Monochrome Chester

Hello everyone. It's been a while since I posted anything much. Apologies, I've been tremendously busy recently.

Thought I'd post a few pics from recent wanders into the city center. All taken with the Sigma 30mm 1.4 with most at f1.4. As usual, let me know what you think - I do believe I'm developing an interesting style (well, I would say that!) but I'm certainly fond of wide aperture/blown highlights in a historic urban environment like Chester; it suits the look I think.

(And yes, I do realise that 2 are in colour despite the title. Thought i'd sneak them in...)

Quite a nice effect although I can't make my mind up if I like such a small DOF in B&W. I like the colour shot of the chairs best and you could get a good alternative by cropping of everything above the handrail leaving just the black strip of the handrail at the top.

You are really trying do something. Its original and its yours. Keep going and dont be diverted

I think I'd remove the white strip at the top and paint the
red bit in the middle of the table legs black.

Ken/Danny - thanks for those comments, it means a lot. I've never really been interested in copying what's been done before and it would be great to have a certain style, and I do think it's starting to emerge (somehow!).

I will explore it more and see what happens. I feel I'm at a more mature place in my technique and happy to experiment.
