I actually saw stock a few weeks ago and am kicking myself that I didn't go for one of those earlier. Maybe Sigma are adapting the 50-500mm to use SDM It's impossible to find out the reason other than high demand. Rumours abound, but if Sigma UK don't know, I don't believe anything else. I'm (slowly) learning to be patient

I had heard - terrible business. Still frustrating, mainly because it seems Sigma UK has no idea what they're going to get from Japan until they open their next shipment.

I'm actively looking for one and cannot find one in stock anywhere in the UK or the popular US stores. Waiting on back order I did actually get one a couple of weeks back but it was a duffer (focusing/IQ issues) and had to send it back.

I contacted Sigma and they said that they were overwhelmed with demand for Pentax lenses at the moment with demand over 200% of that anticipated for this year.

Now I'm jealous for two reasons:

1. Those are lovely pictures of wild parrots

2. We have 5 parrots of our own and would love to see their cousins (where they really ought to be) in the wild

The only native Australian parrot that we had some time ago was a Galah. batty as a brush that one

How long have you had the flash unit and used it? I only ask as mine was tight to start with but over time became easier to insert and remove, though still locking down correctly.

You don't mention your experience level, but do make sure that the tightening level/nut is always fully open before doing anything.

Do be careful if it is a very tight fit to only push and pull the unit at the part right above the hotshoe and not higher as it could damage one or the other.

Does the plastic cover that comes with the K10D fit OK in comparison or is that equally as awkward?

I would normally crop that picture too Most of my photo's are used as backgrounds for my monitor which is 1920*1200 and that's why I left it so wide

We visited a new lake not far from where we live, apparently there are bitterns there, but I was amazed to see the kingfisher. I was in a hide about 20 metres from it. The people who maintain the hide put sticks in the ground around the lake which they like to stand on.

A few days before I went to the lake with a bigma and actually got shots of a kingfisher returning with a fish and battering it against the stick that it perched on and then swallowed it. I also discovered that day (when I got home) that my nice shiny new bigma had a severe noise and IQ problem and the pictures look horrible

That's why I went back with the 70-300mm to try again
