I like that spider shot and am always a sucker for bug shots (#3 - there's a little joke in there - ah, well). I also prefer the lighting you get from your dual flash rig. The ring is good, but it does leave things a little flat in comparison.

Bought a photo printer a while back and printed off a couple to test. They were lovely. Never used it since

The reason that my photo's are all widescreen and left uncropped (dimension-wise) is that I use mine for PC Desktop backgrounds. The OH does too (we have large monitors that show them off nicely) and friends and family say that they do the same with those of mine that they like. I guess it's a move to different forms of media to enjoy your art.

I use a Manfrotto 486RC2 head with the ball loose when I'm taking the shot, then tighten it up and walk 2 inches, then search the plants again

I agree about the K20D. I wonder if it's because it's a CMOS instead of CCD sensor. I know nothing about either technology, but it seems to me that the image quality is that bit more refined on the K20D compared to the K10D.

I don't print my photographs, so cannot comment on how that side of it compares.

Went on a macro walk yesterday morning to further test the K20D in our local nature reserve looking for insects and flowers. Most of these are not cropped at all. Taken with the K20D, Sigma 180mm Macro, monopod, fill flash:

Any wind at all can be really difficult to deal with when this close - you can actually get a flower grip that attaches to the camera for this type of thing

These are great pictures. The detail on the blossom, especially the muted light on the petals is very nice. I wonder if you could probably have afforded even tighter DOF with a larger aperture to get greater impact to the shot.

Interesting picture of the box, it certainly has wonderful detail of the original and the natural light brings out the colours nicely.
