All taken with my usual rig but i pulled out the ring flash.
I prefer my dual head flash i think.

I think I prefer your home-made rig too; the ring flash certainly brings out the fine details but it leaves everything looking a little flat and 2-dimensional. The shots you've shown before with your rig really jump out of the screen.

Having said that, I do like the first one above with the spider cross.

Nice set (as usual )

impressive spider pic - scary one. Looks big and ugly.

Your normal set-up flash rig seems to work far better than this. Perhaps it is my screen (here at work) but there seems to be some harsh reflections from the flash. Not something I usual spot with the rig....

ohh....it is probably because you usual have the flash light diffused with your rig. (as far as I remember from your shot of it).

Yep i do have the dual rig diffused and it makes all the difference.
The ring flash is ok in certain applications but i believe the dual rig adds more pop.

The spider is only about 20mm in size actualy.

I like that spider shot and am always a sucker for bug shots (#3 - there's a little joke in there - ah, well). I also prefer the lighting you get from your dual flash rig. The ring is good, but it does leave things a little flat in comparison.
