Thanks everyone, still feeling well grotty. Just want to curl up with a beaker of tea and later on some 40% medicine. Going for a serious test as soon as the shivering stops (shake reduction just not powerful enough). Amazing how us blokes can keep going despite the illnesses we suffer.

Ordered a DA 300 from SRS on Sunday after much deliberation (at least a week). E mail from them on Monday morning to say it`s been despatched. Great joy! Monday afternoon first sign of headache, sore throat etc. Precursor to man flu. Tuesday lens arrives and kind neighbour takes it in Yea! Struggle all day at work not knowing my lens was waiting but living in hope. Sat in doors pouring with rain feeling too ill to live, new lens waiting to go walkies how bad can it get?

Anyone know the weather forecast?

If the sensor is one of the famous S--Y flops (produced down to a price)and it sounds a bit like it send it back.

I e mailed them last night and by return was sent login/download details. It worked this time. Only had a few minutes to look at the e book but from what Iv`e seen it looks pretty decent.

I bought a download of the yvon Bourque K10D book last night. Sadly it had a file error and would not allow me to save it. I have e mailed the supplier. Will keep you posted.

I tried checking the focus using a metric scale rule and the camera at 45 degrees. I focussed on the 10 centimetre mark with various aperture settings. The focus is fine but what I did notice is that at the 8 centimetre point and 12 centimetre point it was becoming out of focus. This indicates that the depth of field is rather shallow. Seems that my Tamron lens is ok though. Probably have to put up with "soft focus." especially with open aperture shots although the Cheetah on the gallery was shot at F16.

Perhaps I will do some more subjective trials. Might be I need to try focussing manually.

Hi Mike, i`m not sure about the cat but the others seem spot on to me, especially the wasps nest. I cant say the ones we take with the Tamrons come close.
