I "upgraded" a few years ago from the K5 to the K5iis, at the time when the K5iis was nearing being discontinued; a good deal from SRS trading in the K5, I ended up having the K5iis at a great price with the two year warranty.

At that moment in time it made sense, and I had no regrets.

Fast forward few years, and I have managed to crack the back LCD on the camera. It's still working, thankfully, so all cosmetic at the moment.

A quote for the repair from Johnsons was £199+VAT.
W O W

Suffice to say I won't be sending it in for repair.
So it now feels similar to the situation regarding upgrading from the K5, with my opinion now being the K3ii (for a brief period it would seem).

I don't want to upgrade, nor do I want to spend on fixing my K5iis.
I can live with what I have, but will keep a keen eye open on the classifieds; personally I'd rather buy a used body for slightly more than the cost of repair.

Come to think about it, if nobody did upgrade there would probably not be any used camera bodies for sale

Regards
Adrian

Thanks roberrl, that worked.
This screen seems the same as the previous link from the US.

I wouldn't trust myself to even think about replacing it myself

That's what I'm fearing to be honest.
Whilst I have no desire to change camera, £200+ would go some way towards a new body.

I'm now waiting for a quote from Ashai Photo.

Thanks for this, but unfortunately the link doesn't work for me

Definitely the LCD as well as the screen protector? (An oxymoron if ever there was one!)
Thanks Johnx, I must confess that I would be a bit apprehensive about doing this myself.

Whilst changing filters the other day, with the camera resting on a big rock, I gently tilted the camera backwards (screen protector fitted).

Cue the sound of crushing glass.

Thankfully all is still in working order, with only the bottom crack physically cracked.

Has anybody had the back screen replaced, if so, any recommendations and any advise as to the cost.

Thanks
Adrian

The 10 stop filter has been a learning curve, with results being okay.

After a certain shutter speed (60 secs), the desired effect was lost. For example I can't see myself using this filter for flowing water work.

Thanks all.

Ah, the horizon in #3; Lightroom usually does a good job in automatically levelling things out, but I'll have to learn to double-check in the future

The pier is apparently on death row, pending demolition due to it's very poor condition (the images just about show how it has buckled at the middle).

Anglers, in their stupidity, still climb over the barricades to go fishing.

All with the 10-20 and 10 stop filter.

Hello Gareth
Excellent work, don`t move too far away from the coast

Can you please confirm what filter system you use?

Thanks
Adrian
