Maybe I'm not searching the forum right but could not find a thread on this. Wondering for long exposure night shots like ones where car headlights form lines, do you use AWB or something else. The answer I assume may be it depends what look you want. Personally I'd like to reduce as much as possible that orangeyness of long night exposures.

don't do much myself but then I don't have PS CS or Elements. I got a lot out of SilkyPix when I used a 30 day license for improving some wedding photos.

For the most part I'd be inclined to say get it right first time if you can and you then get the most out of the camera.

Other than that I find Paint.net is enough for me if I want to do any red eye removal, cropping, monochrome conversion, its more than enough for me.

That said the results to some things I did on Silkypix were very nice, like some of the alternate colour schemes. Film K setting on a portrait of my daughters and her friends instantly made the pic seem like it was taken in the 70's, a nice effect.

I find there also there are way too many over photoshopped images out there, especially of landscapes, that just don't look real. Fine if they are pure art but don't pass it off as being what you actually saw.

One question that does arise for me on this is on monochrome which for me is where you can go purely artistic. I would like to (one day given the time) do more with that especially a la Ansell Adams style. Can anyone recommend software for that?

i might try some tests on that then, i stick to no higher than 800 but if 1600 prints better than it looks on screen might be worth a try. I don't have a calibrated monitor or anything like that and generally find so far my pictures are even better printed than on screen, Snapfish have been pretty good, better than Photobox who tend to print too dark.

my k10d and 50mm 1.4 prime are soooo cool!

It's impressed in many ways before but today my four year old dressed as an angel with her two best friends on stage in the pre-school play, with no flash, custom white balance, using iso 800 and manual, this is just the most lovely pic of our girl and will be treasured.

there that's off my chest now!

if using a cable is convenient thats good but I can see the benefits of going wireless where a cable is impractical. I can see the use of both so am keeping an eye out for a long 4P cable too.

good news is its here and works fine, chuffed with it for the money.

bad news is what i had not realised was the 5m cable would be PC to 4P, so if i want to set this up further away I need the 4P Sync Cord B 5m cable or the Multi Cord combined with the distributor.

I've posted a wanted for this on the site, no idea if these are like hens teeth but worth asking.

As it stands I'm happy with what I got for the money but would like to achieve more. But that's the nature of this photography stuff, always one thing more you want to do!

Hi, Just got an old clamp and bracket unit. Came with a 1m 4p sync cord, and a 5m PC to 4P. Would like to use this with the K10D but with longer range. If anyone has any of the above they are willing to sell please let me know.

Thanks
