have not been around for a while but I've kept informed thru visits to this forum.
just received my K-30 from SRS (what a good service I've received from them again!! ) in reference to focus peaking, my set up to achieve some sort of visibility in focus areas I've instigated AF AUTO ZOOM in live view mode and this seems to give a more informed view to focus peaking, but must admit though it is suppose to outline the contrast areas the outlines are very minute, perhaps we should be given some other colour options e.g as per nex cameras which I have tried and colours do improve the outlines.

Comment by asview posted on Focus peaking - how are you finding it? at 09/11/2012 - 12:17
on my K7 it meters well without much intervention, its certainly sharper than my 50-150 2.8 Sigma
all the best.

metering in spot mode would be as the box says...spot meter of that nearest subject.
in custom menu..6 you can lock the AE with the focus point or you can leave it off which means metering as normal.
custom menu..7 gives metering choices to multi- segment mode only and works similar to menu..6.
I find using centre focus point works better for me in most situations.
just my take on your query.

Reset everything to factory default.
as suggested, remove the battery and try a replacement battery if you've got one.
remove lens and clean all contact...carefully checking for any build up of condensation on contacts.
go to full auto mode or try manual mode .
Hope you can get things working again.
I know how hot and humid Thailand can get, there are some great shots to be had around ChaingMai, full of wonderful people and places.
Whenever I travel to distance places I try to have a back up camera with me to calm my frustration for occasions like this.I know how you must be feeling.
Hope the above helps!!
look forward to viewing your shots.

these shots may have dispelled any doubts I had about the K7's autofocusing which was holding me off from the purchase of the K7.
Thanks for the shots.
