I always use it in lieu of my 16-50mm when I want to pack a light weight system for walkabout.
But you can't compare the optics with the 16-50mm which goes without saying.
Hope this helps.

Anytime you're in the area give me a call, we can do walkabouts into the hills/ peak.
I know what you mean about not being able to by-pass Wales.....really beautiful country.
Perhaps we can do a members walkabout in the peak district:

in reference to choosing colour or b.w of your landscape shots.
your cropped colour version does it for me.
and your take on b.w. mirrors the contrast of the colour shot.
Each shot gives a different meaning to me .
Lets face it you're on a walkabout, compose a shot in a rural setting , do you want to remove all of the actual scene to enable some perfection or do you want the memory of the time/day the shot was taken.
Your shots to me are great, because when I view them it relates to the rural countryside and brings me into the shot.
Well done! .......Now I must get out into the Derbyshire Hills.

have you tried to improve/ master your technique i.e in the way.. whilst you are taking the shot.
awareness of stance through arms, legs etc the way you maybe holding your camera sometimes/ often
leads to poor results.
I've had problems in the past and no doubt will have in the future ,after using a discipline approach my shots i
have improved by, I would say 90% in stability.
I have a manfrotto tripod and monopod with a standard 3 way head which I only use on long exposures, macro shots.
My apologies if if I'm going over things that you may also have experienced and use as part of your technique.

the last price hike was nearly 30-40% on some lenses.. ..shock to the whole U.K Pentax community.
Now I cannot contemplate any purchase of new Pentax equipment.
My only explanation to such a drastic move was to claw back serious losses or to indicate to the new management regime that there is business strategy for the future.
Thereby loosing a vast opportunity to procure future business, I know of several camera stores who were stunned by such a price hike and the instant loss of trade. They now have reservations to stock Pentax equipment.
Question is WHY do we continue to support Pentax ?
How can we without some commitment from Pentax, that is through affordable pricing of their products and their commitment for future photographic equipment.
you cannot fail to compare the other manufactures commitment to photography through their continue improvement to their products.
Just my take on this issue.
