My wife has lighthouses in her blood. I have more lighthouse photos than I could ever find a use for.

It's a good exercise to come up with new (as in: not the usual cliché) of lighthouses. I've had some good luck.

Maybe you could put out a train calendar, there are lighthouse theme calendars so why not trains?

I use a 62mm lens cap on the hood for my A 50mm f/1.4. It is a lot easier than constantly taking off the hood to put on a cap.

My MX's are still working after all these years, although the M sync on one of them is out. I'll get it fixed somewhere. If it was badly broken, I might have to look for a new camera, but, alas, the MX's have withstood many years of abuse with no ill effect. So no new film cameras for me. Feh!

I guess I'll just have to obsess on digital cameras. I hear a replacement for the *st D is coming out next year........

I have yet to concinve myself to buy a variable-apetrure zoom. I just got over the "primes only" mentality only recently. I just can't see using a variable apeture lens.

I use the 16-45, and a used 28-70 f/4 FA/AL for a lot of what I do. The 28-70 is an autofocus lens, but out of production. They show up used from time to time, it's worth looking for. It's a decent performer.

The Lexar cards come bundled with a file-recovery utility on the card, you copy it to your machine and use it to recover lost files on cards or your hard drive.

If the lost files have not been over-written, it can recover most of them.

FWIW, I've been using Lexar CF cards in my *st D, with Write Acceleration. They cost a bit, but they're FAST! Well worth searching out. I'm pretty sure they make SD cards too.

If you can find a D for sale, it's probably the best of the lot so far. The others are reduced-capacity cameras.

I have the D, and I'll wait for the D2 to get a second body.

It's a compositional aid. You end up corpping off the edges, it's a guide to be more precise.

I had considered scoring the screens on my MX cameras to indicate the borders of an 8x10, so I could safely ignore the area out of the useful part.
