I just took a shot straight into the sun with the 12-24 and there is NO flare. None, nada, zip, zilch.

I, for one, am impressed.

Welcome to the looney bin, I have the 12-24 and it's great for interior shots for architects and realtors. It's sharp and smooth, and freakin' BIG!!

We all know what New Year's resolutions are worth. I give you a month, tops!

I sold off some filters on ebay, but I still keep at least a polarizer and an ND in each size. I also think graduated ND is better than a Levels layer and a mask with a graduated density, but if you need to you can imitate a graduated ND in Photoshop.

That works particularly well if you shoot RAW and make two renderings of the file.

Thanks for opportunity of viewing the PEF file!
What's interesting is that Adobe CS2 and Capture One don't recognise the file!!
However, I just used a hex editor to change the two "*ist DL" strings in the header to "*ist DS" and guess what... it opened

This is a good reason to use Adobe's DNG converter to imput all your RAW fles as .dng files. during the ingestion phaze.

I have different cameras that produce RAW files, and I don't want to end up with an unsupported format some yeas down the road.

DNG is fully and publically documented, so when you import your files through the DNG converter you have a chance to give them names and code numbers that actually mean something to you, plus you will end up with a pubicly documented RAW file that is likely to be supported for a long time to come.

Some backs and cameras already offer .dng as a format, the more of us use it the likelier it is the camera makers will give up proprietary formats and use a single form of RAW file, the .dng format.

On the D series cameras, a 50mm makes an excellent portrait lens. There are lots of superb Pentax 50 f/1.4's out there.

The water's GOOOOOOOD!!! I'm taking my new stash to LA for a couple of weeks, will report back. Word is that the 31 is another superb normal lens, this time for the digital sensors. Will post results.

And I just found out I get a hundred bucks rebate on one of the lenses. That's sweet!

I can't say anything about the Canon, but I love the Epson, and I've not had good results with HP. Of course, this wasn't a current HP model, but I know for sure the Epson R1800 is an incredable printer. The 800 is a smaller version of the 1800.
