I use Eneloops in my K200, and they feel like they last forever!

At Waddington last year I managed to get right on the crowd line, but towards the end of the runway. While we missed some of the ground displays, we were what felt like touching distance from the planes overhead as they passed by!

Hi, Haven't contributed for ages, but fwiw here's my tuppence worth. I went to Waddington, and used my K200D with a Tamron 70-300 lens. I took over 400 pictures, some of which were OK. In terms of framing I found that using continuous shooting mode helped, firing 4 or 5 shots as the planes flew past, trying to centre as best I could. Ensuring the camera was set to focus in the centre helped.

I'll add a Tornado GR4 shot that I was pleased with, and a couple of others, into the gallery to see what folk think..whilst a 300mm lens may limit you, I know that pockets need to be quite deep for the 500mm!!

I have to admit to choosing a Pentax because, amongst other things, I could use AA batteries. I bought some Eneloops and they are fantastic - hold their charge for weeks unlike my other rechargeables. Trouble is because they are so good they find their way into Wii remotes and similar...

If you want a 70-300 zoom I just bought a Tamron 70-300, and picked it up for £96 including next day postage and a Tamron filter (which had a £15 price sticker on it). see this thread and good luck! I'm really pleased with mine, and the thread shows others have achieved some great shots!

Another vote for Eneloops. I've had a set in for a couple of weeks now, and they are still showing full power. Reasonably priced at 7 day shop for a pack of 8 (4 of which are now in Wii controllers!), but check amazon too as the prices can fluctuate a bit!

Got mine today. Initial thoughts are it has a quality feel to it and feels solid, but isn't overly heavy. Hunts a little in lower light, but that's probably me Macro mode looks very useful. Have been staking out birds on feeders, and photos appear pretty sharp, esp when considering they are taken through the window (probably a cardinal sin!). Can't wait to get outside and find some creepy crawlies!!
