The best extension tube to get is 6mm. I use a Ricoh one with the A* 300mm and it lets me focus to 3m rather than 4m and still get about 12m with the infinity setting. No contacts on the extension ring so I lose the A setting on the lens. I tend to use the excellent Pentax 55-300mm more because of these problems, especially if I can stop down to about f/11.

Usually these older 300mm lenses suffer from a bit of PF and a converter makes it worse. Also be careful of the minimum focus distance. The 300mm A* for instance won't focus closer than 4m which is useless for birds. A converter or extension ring will let you go closer though.

It seems like they were higher contrast than the normal camera lenses and could well have nice Bokeh.
Worth trying it on your camera.

It's a 1937 process lens. Not a lot of use without a shutter (and too awkward to fit) although it could be used on a 5x7 camera with a behind the lens shutter. I doubt if it is all that good. If you have a bellows and some extension tubes you could mount it with Blu-Tak and try it out with your Pentax Digital. You might get a surprise.

The lever on the side looks like it's a pre-set and lets you flick back and forth between wide open and stopped down to whatever aperture is set below the white line with the dot at the top.

I've got a 1950's Kodak Ektar 203mm f/7.7 (4 element)in a Prontor shutter that's also made for 5x7 and when I tried it on a K20D, it was the sharpest lens I've ever seen Ektar's were Kodak's Top lenses and regarded by many as being better than the German stuff. They were fully corrected but Kodak never described them as APO

I've never heard of a virus attached to a JPG but to be sure you can upload one to link and it will be scanned for free using about 20 top AV progs while you wait. Normally a virus has to be attached to a program that actually runs and a JPEG doesn't run.

Nasty stuff is beginning to happen with movie files when the Media Player contacts an external URL for licence info. The URL is embedded in the file and when contacted sends the nasties down the line.

Sorry Paul, but you haven't read my post. I quoted the post I was replying to by MrCynical and he posted about 4 hours before you did, so your post wasn't part of my comment and with 4 hours between the two I can't seee how it would be. I also took it that because of the smiley in MrCynical's post that his comment was a bit tongue in cheek, which is why my reply was also. I did read your post and didn't see anything wrong with it except that I only use 8GB, because I save RAW+JPG and any 4GB offers wouldn't be of interest to me.

I do buy quite a lot of stuff from 7Day and they email me offers etc. One of the best retailers around even before the internet existed when they advertised in AP.

Try to get a Boot CD/DVD that has an AV scanner on it. I think Norton Ghost 15 has, but not sure if it has to be installed on another computer first. That way you can boot up from the CD and scan you HD and possibly remove the virus. I'm also sure that it will have a file manager that will let you copy any files to say an SDHC card or another empty drive.

Sadly if you want 20MB/s transfers you have to pay for it and is there any point transferring any slower. There used to be cheaper good cards, but most manufacturers realize that they can get away with 2MB/s junk... so why not.

For about £20 you can get the Sandisk Extreme SDHC and CF Reader (which I've used) or the Lexar product that is similar, although I've never used that one, but it should be fast.

I also got one of the SanDisk Micromate freebies OK for 11MB/s max

The ATP Promax SD/SDHC Card Reader Retractable can do 17MB/s but is a pig to use. You have to remove it from the computer and retract the USB plug to get the card out.

Forget the Poundland one's 2MB/s max.
