The Pentax one was a bit basic. I've got the Stitz one which
lets you dial in any focal length lens and vary the baffle in
the middle. There's one on ebay (faulty) but mine hasn't got
the belows type stand, it's not needed.

It can be used on a Polaroid camera for stereo pics
or 2 passport type photos.

Looking at the tests the Sigma looks impressive despite having the lowest votes on here.

The shot of the blue train at f/4 on photozone is really top class and doesn't show any PF

Edit: The shot under the steel walkway shows quite a bit of PF at 17mm

The f/2.8 shots aren't that impressive.

The error Pentax made was carrying on with screw thread cameras for far too long. Everyone else had long since moved to bayonet. This alienated the press who never came back on the side of Pentax, probably because they had all had to switch systems. Olympus OM cameras had been out for about 5 years when Pentax switched over to similar stuff. The MX came out at the same time as the ME.

The ME and MX were expensive cameras and without the cheaper models Pentax just wouldn't have survived.

That's a better way of doing it At least you will know
(or hopefully you won't know because the marks don't appear )
what the exact cause is.

Good to know about the shutter count as well.

I just picked up my K5 yesterday and the first 6 shots I took were testing at f22 on a sheet of glossy photo paper, with the 35mm macro ltd. I wanted to see if the problem was there initially, It isn't!! Serial no, 3913....
But that doesn't mean it won't appear after some use,

I am about to update the firmware and then check it again, but I doubt that will have anything to do with it, just covering all bases.
It will be interesting to see if the problem is something that appears after use. Don't forget to shoot some video as well just in case it's heat caused. Someone on the other forum mentioned that the (PhotoMe) shutter activation count was 0 or 1? (can'remember which) instead of a few hundred like the earlier cameras, indicating either the shutter hadn't been fired or it had been reset.

Animated gifs are the worst for slowing your computer down
especially if there are a lot of them.

The K-5 defects cover a very wide range of SNo's. and don't look to
be restricted to any range. Someone even commented that because they
covered such a big range, the range must also include lens SNo's because it didn't seem possible that so many
cameras would have been sold.
