You sometimes come across lenses on Lens Test Sites that aren't up to scratch and they sometimes get a 2nd lens to test which performs much better.

My Mk 1 and Mk2 18-55mm Kit lenses were both good, but I have seen bad results from a few Mk 1's.

I've just revalued my example as it's also mint with case and has been used less than five times.

Waste of time you taking it to Australia with you Gary

I would have thought that it wouldn't have any problem firing the flash. The only problem would be the syc whether it works at 1/180th or 1/90th or just the camera doesn't pick up the flash at all. Make sure that receiver and sender are on the same channel (they must be if it will fire the camera). On the RF-603 I would think there might be a switch for the flash output.

........ use the front PC connector or can I use the side 2.5mm phono jack ?
I'm not sure if your on about the connector and phono jack on the Portaflash here? I think your just going to have to try it. I've only ever used mine via the Hotshoe to fire a small flash which gets picked up by the slave cell on my Bowens Monolites, they are about 600v so I don't risk a direct connection.

It's the image size and aperture that control DOF.
Focal length doesn't matter, so use 50mm or 300mm
at say f/11 and the DOF for the same image will be the
same.

Don't forget for $2,500 you actually get TWO Cameras!

Thanks for the info, would I be right in thinking the Ricoh Lens would be completely manual unlike the Pentax-A lens?

Lee
Most of the Ricoh lenses will be just manual iris with no A setting, it's actually a P on the Ricoh. The pin Matt refers to probably only appeared on the last ones made. It's unlikely that you will come accross one of these. Search for Ricoh on this page it also has notes on other K Mount lenses.

If the Ricoh pin is rounded it's unlikely to be a problem. It's very easy to remove or grind down with a Dremel.

Two things strike me about this. One is that the background is very busy, so I'd be looking for a wider aperture if possible. The second is that the white petals are totally burnt out. The solution for the latter is different lighting. My favourite lighting for flowers is bright overcast, even lightly raining, and the flower will glow...full sunlight is just a little harsh.
Just hold a diffuser over the flower?

Edit: I think your monitor need calibrating John

I've just checked and only 45 pixels in the whole picture reach a burnt out RGB level of 255

I spent a couple of weeks with the M version of the same lens earlier this year (while investigating what results you can get with a £10 MV1/50mm f2 combination), nothing wrong with it. I also have the A version after seeing it stupidly cheap and bagging it to complete my P30T, that will be tried in the near future.
If film ever makes a big comeback Matt, you'll be rolling in it

Ricoh 50mm's are as sharp as Pentax lenses and if money's tight they are usually cheaper.

I think also as well as that, like PF there should be a min post count also before being able to advertise in the classiiess section
That has been discussed before. It simply means that Forum Members lose out on Bargains to Ebay and Gumtree
