I thought Kingfishers had about 3 broods a year, so the breeding season would be almost all year?

It's worth trying one of these link with and extension cable. I've used them with DAT and Mini-Disc recorders and they are exceptional considering the price (20Hz to 16KHz +/- 1dB). Better than similar Sony stuff costing 10x more and with a more powerful output. Alternatively buy the Panasonic electret condenser module and make your own Years ago people used to sneak DAT recorders into concerts and record them using Panasonic electret condenser modules inside pens in their top pockets http://www.solorb.com/dat-heads/

Search for "electret" in this thread

It has to do with angles of view. You can see it better on the graphs. There's a big difference at the bottom i.e. 10mm - 20mm but the graph flattens out at 400 - 1000mm etc.

This is the actual thread link

There is quite a difference between 300mm and 400mm.
400mm to 500mm is a lot less of a difference.

There is a very good thread with graphs etc. on the US Pentax
forum which covers difference in field of view etc.
Sorry I don't have the link.

Thanks for that info... I'll probably get the cactus v5 when the two
YN-602's die

Some people turn the camera upside down to sync at a higher
speed, if it's outside it shouldn't show a black band because
it's the sky

You need to find how close to the nest you are allowed to go without a license. I think it's either 50m or 100m.

You don't need to go close anyway. Shots are better from where they dive for fish, perch etc.

I'm not sure about the pocket wizards. Most people who wanted a lot of triggers would have gone for cheaper stuff because of the price.

A lot of people will be stocking up on RF-602's
