Hey there, I was out in the beautiful weather today and took along my camera on a walk. I've had dust spots on the sensor before but they have largely been removed with a few uses of the removal tool on board. However, having used the camera today images that include sky have been absolutely covered in dust. I'm concerned some of the blotches may even be damage. Have a look.

The K7 is the only digital I've owned so I have no great basis for comparison. It's the sturdiest digital I've ever used for any amount of time, you can achieve professional quality shots with it, performs for me pretty much all around. It's also very simple to use after a short time, the menus are no nonsense. I also agree with what Pete [Transit] said above, at the current prices it's nothing short of a bargain!

Again, the only long term exposure I had to a DSLR before hand was a Canon 350d which belonged to my Brother's Mrs, it was understandably nowhere near the K7 in any respect.

Sorry about my lack of technical language, I'm pretty amateur.

P.S., good to see a fellow Scot on here!

Hey there, a few of you may remember a topic I posted in mid November when I received my brand new K7.

I've been pretty busy since then and on viewing the box contents had overlooked the warranty somewhat (what can I say, I was excited). Anyway, the other week I discovered that the warranty requires a stamp from the retailer, however I bought mine from Amazon. I tried finding a number for Pentax UK but I've been hampered by a lack of internet connection at the moment. I'm pretty worried about this, I'd rather not have a red face if something that should be covered by the warranty goes wrong, can anybody shed some light on my options?

P.S. I've had a great time with the camera thus far - nice image quality, easy to use, sturdy build. It feels like a real workhorse!

Thanks,

Alex.

So the camera arrived about an hour ago. I've got to say I'm chuffed. The build quality seems to be superior to most dSLR cameras I've used or played with. Now to wait for a full charge!

Thank you for the replies and the welcome, folks.

I've been an enthusiastic amateur for a long time and finally I've managed to buy a dSLR.

Began saving several times but something always seemed to come up, however this time around I received £1000 left for me by a late relative for my 21st Birthday.

I bought the K7 with a kit lens - for some reason cheaper than a body only, and I figured it could be useful for snap shots - and a 16-45mm Pentax lens.

I've heard only positive things about the K7 and the 16-45 similarly, I would like to know if any Pentax users have any remarks about the two?

Finally, I would assume a low range wide zoom is good for landscapes and such, but could I apply it well to urban settings?
