The kit lens is useful because its WR unlike the 16-45mm so should you feel like shooting in the rain then take that instead
16-45mm is a great lens, I actually use mine more than the 16-50mm f2.8 and works very well with the K-7 (infact its good with any Pentax digital DSLR).

Hi Alex,
Well done getting the K-7.
I'm sure you will be happy, as I am with this excellent camera. Particularly good with you being an 'enthusiastic amateur' so you are already up to speed on the important stuff. I sold my old K100D to a long time film SLR friend. He just lapped it up
Have fun and post some shots here please !
Pete

I have the 16-45mm lens on my K-7, and found it great when I attended a recent landscape course.
The lens is hardly ever of the camera.
Regards
P.S. Welcome to the forum

So the camera arrived about an hour ago. I've got to say I'm chuffed. The build quality seems to be superior to most dSLR cameras I've used or played with. Now to wait for a full charge!
Thank you for the replies and the welcome, folks.

Began saving several times but something always seemed to come up, however this time around I received £1000 left for me by a late relative for my 21st Birthday.
I bought the K7 with a kit lens - for some reason cheaper than a body only, and I figured it could be useful for snap shots - and a 16-45mm Pentax lens.
I've heard only positive things about the K7 and the 16-45 similarly, I would like to know if any Pentax users have any remarks about the two?
Finally, I would assume a low range wide zoom is good for landscapes and such, but could I apply it well to urban settings?
