Hi, just joined having finally ordered a new Pentax. Being retired and not exactly flush, went for an X5. Did consider a Fuji, but the Amazon reviews suggest they may have quality control problems.
Previous Pentax was an Optio X33LF. Took nice pictures (including my avatar), but a tad out of date.
Also have a load of old M series SLRs in the wardrobe, but most are suffering from foam-rot, so they don't get used.

Or use it as a project like your ME John, see how long it lasts outdoors unprotected
