C**P light, but you got sharp and bold results despite it, so full marks to you and the equipment.

Nice shots. I have never done proper aircraft in flight shots, the first is just stunning. Must visit this place at some point, as a minor aviation fan I really should.

Is there any website that you would recommend to get an idea of when is a good time and place to go ?

Any weekday when the weather for mid Wales is dry with little or no cloud is your best bet. If you can avoid schools hols parking will be easier and fewer people on location. Thursday there were well over 100 people on both sides of the road at Cad West/East for most of the day...not enough parking for everyone so some people parked half on the road...apparently the police are giving out tickets now if blocking the highway.

Agree with 1stEverPentax, Cad West is an easier climb, still tough but shorter, you can drive up to East, but there's only a few parking spaces and you have to know where to go up a lane through farmers fields.

Cad West is better if you want top side and East for bottom side and flying underneath you,

A 70 - 200 is perfectly good on a crop sensor camera, whilst a 100 - 300 on a full frame or longer, the 3 here were shot at around 330mm

This is the hotel I use, its about 2 miles from the Cad West / East car park, and a close-ish post code

Brilliant shots, all three are stunning! You have clearly mastered how to exploit that excellent lens!

Thanks Ronniemac,

It can be a beast to handhold, the problem is these blighters move so fast and are a little unpredictable. I've tried a monopod with a bsll head and with a gimbal head and tbh you can't move fast enough to track them imo with these.
