That's helpful...being able to see it. Makes sense turning the foot through 90 degrees...i did wonder how that might work.

Is there much friction when lifting the camera/lens up to face? Does the strap have a non slip finish that might 'catch' on clothing?

Karlo, be good to catch up so feel free to call/text and let me know of your plans. Although you may not want to stand next to me, now I own a "Nikon" 😱

I may have to dust off the K5iis just to make you feel at ease. 😀

Anyone one else planning a visit, welcome to look me up.
Cheers for that Al...i've nothing against Nikonites...I seem to remember you having the D500 when I saw you last! It was a good day that.
I'll keep both yourself and Chris (chrism) posted once we hit May.

For carrying the long lens+body I have fitted Peak Design quick release catches to the camera and lens foot, and clip one end of a Peak strap to the body and the other to the lens foot. That way you can sling it all over your shoulder with the mount rotated 90 degrees and it rests comfortably on your hip, and not worry about straining the mount. When done I clip on the standard Pentax strap to the camera.

If you use an Arca Swiss monopod head I think you can get a Peak Design quick release plate for the lens foot to which can be attached a catch.
Thanks for this advice Rob...i'll have a look at the gear you mention...could go halves with my son.

Some nice bright colours there Naim..As with Mike I particularly like No.3 the Tulip.

Its a great time of year for photography with all these cheerful flowers blooming!

Best wishes for a prompt and full recovery. You mentioned last year about possibly visiting Man airport for a session...i'm happy to meet up
if you still want to do this as the weather is improving now. PM me and we can arrange something.

All three stand out well against the black.

The last one is a right mish-mash of weird looking parts.

Nice and sharp. I'll have to try my macro on a tripod as so far all my shots have been handheld.

Thanks for that info Chris. I'll bear that in mind.
I might not make a decision until the day before as weather forecast changes from one day to the next...but timing would be good for me
and I did like Cad East when i was there last.

Cheers

Great examples there Karlo. The moody sky really adds to the scene. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Al, good to hear from you again.

Ta very much. I love a bit of cloud in the image when taking aircraft shots...can make a good shot even better if you get it right and often its a bit cooler!

I may be in touch soon...about time I returned for another go at the Loop.

All the best

Hi Karlo,

I use a fairly old now manfrotto 684 monopod I think it is, with a Chinese gimble ( £45 ) on it with the 150 - 450 whilst the gimble adds weight, it also helps with the stability for me.
Thanks for that info Chris...I like the idea of a cheapish gimble particularly...ideal for these big lenses.

(Nice reptile by the way with an impressively sharp crop).

Thanks for your comments Mike...particularly as you've got experience in this specialist genre...much appreciated.
