There is lots of solar activity at the moment with some very large sunspots. Better than evens chance of more Coronal Mass Ejections coming our way every day until the weekend which means the aurora could be around for about another week at least.

Thanks for the info John. It does seem to confirm my suspicions. I think Pentax should revert to the K30 WR lens with the K50. If I was about to buy a K50 i'd opt for the body only and then look to pick up a 18-55DA WR seperately which makes the overall package more expensive than it should be.

Does anybody know whether the WR employed on the new 18-55DAL WR used on the K50 is inferior to that used on the 18-55 DA WR lens you get with the K30?

Penny pinching seems to be the order of the day as the lens seems inferior in build quality to the 18-55 DA WR and you no longer get a hood with it. The K30 actually seems a better bet for this reason alone and I wonder whether future K50 sales will be impacted by this attempt to save a couple of quid.

Probably just trialling it first to see how it is accepted. I saw the Gadget show with this on it also. It was interesting to see what it was about and I could see it might appeal from the novelty point of view IF it was about £125 - £150. At its current price and quality level however it has no appeal whatsoever to me. A complete waste of marketing and production resources.

Some great shots there. I like most of them but particularly the Loch Lomond ones and the 2 taken with the k200! It just shows what a good camera the K200 was and still is.

Very impressed overall...how far away in metres were the ducks? I'm just trying to visualise the fun factor with regard to aircraft at airfields.
