SRS new prices

Yes, prices now are lower in the Euro zone, but a couple of months ago that was not the case. Plus we never get cash back offers like you do in the UK/USA/Canada. Prices here are rising also, just not by the same % as in the UK.

My 60-250mm has arrived, Thanks Chris (SRS) and so far wow,this is one lens that is a keeper, nearly all you could want in quality lens, even wide open it is good, short to long superb, rapid silent focus and loads more that I could say,now I must wait for the K7 till the price drops, and it will, even the Nikon D300 price dropped, then Nikon put another £300 on it not long ago. Even then it is being discounted in many places.
Remember lenses cost much more to produce than camera bodies, but the manufacturer has to recoup the development cost and set up a production line, with the high Yen and lower other currency's + higher labour costs.
But I'm just pleased I have managed to get a superb lens at a very good price.

Ken, you are going to love that lens. I know how much you like the DA*300, and this one just complements it in my view

Better late than never.My DA 50-135 is coming on 25th.

STILL undecided whether to buy a 50-135mm or keep my Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 and converters.

I read this thread and I started to panic, and ordered the Pentax 17-70 last night, got the email from SRS, it arrives tomorrow

this is all very disappointing. i bought pentax because it was value for money and right now it is so far away from being just that. the lens prices and the lack of innovation in the k7 more or less says it all.

i think it may be time to move to a bigger brand who can keep up with the times and offer more variety at reasonable prices.

D700 or D300 looks like the ticket....

Not being funny but exactly what other things would you want from the K-7 to make it more innovative?. I can see a jump to the D700 would be worthwhile if you want FF but the lenses needed for that alone would cost an absolute fortune and I dont see anything better in the D300 over the K-7 apart from a slightly faster fps and loads of focus points no one really needs.

Maybe I don't necessary need the k7 to be amazing but I want it to at least keep up with the competition. And it is not just about the k7 is is about Pentax in general. The best SLR we have is the k7 and I don't think it beats the D300 in terms of speed and auto focus alone. Yes it gas more AF points and why not. It is an extra feature that someone will use and let's face it, we don't use every feature that the K10,K20 or K7 has to offer so slating a feature does not really go anywhere.

I can't go full frame with Pentax. The lenses now cost as much as Nikon/Canon. The faster focusing which I really hoped for in the K7 is not there yet. Third party lenses are not normally SDM. There are less and less reasons to be with Pentax.

I love my K10D but when I have taken that as far as I can I will have to think carefully about spending more money on another Pentax body. In the meantime I hope Pentax can up their game a bit and start offer something that stands out. I don't really care anymore that I can use every Pentax lens ever made or that the SR is in the body and thus every lens is SR etc....

Seriously Eric, I concede that the K-7 in and of itself may not have many 'new' features but it does improve on other innovations introduced in earlier Pentax models. I can't think of any other DSLR's that have introduced TAv exposure mode. Now please don't slag me off if I've missed one, I don't spend my days glued to the photography press and have little interest in scoring points over other manufacturers.

The K-7 ticks all of the boxes that any DSLR user up to advanced semi-pro status might want, surely.

What features/functions would you like the K-7 to have that it currently lacks?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not slating the D300 or it's extra AF points, just going on the review I read comparing the D300 to the K-7 where the chap said more points is not necessarily a good thing as there is more chance of the camera picking the wrong one. Personally I think the K-7 is going to bring Pentax up to the level of the D300 but I also believe it is massivly overpriced in the UK compared to the Nikon and Canon bodies in this specification range especially as both companies are poised to bring out new models probably in the next 6 months. Had I been in Pentax's shoes I would be aiming for the sub £1000 price mark to get more users into using the brand but thats even more unlikely now after the rise in lens prices.

I do wonder if these rises are just a ploy to make people panick buy so that Pentax have a bit more capital to play with.
