Just wondered where did this info come from and when is it supposed to take effect
Looking back in the thread I think it came from SRS, looking at their site the 50-135mm is £919 already, so whenever they have to re-stock the other models the price will rise.

In my opinion, it is worth shopping around, if you want one particular lens, I would not pay that sort of money for that lens, I had one but did not use it enough so sold it, I paid just over £100 for it (new).
If Pentax want to charge that sort of money for lenses they will be getting a lot less sales.
In future I may just look at prices and save the money.

that is shocking, I was just about to ship this lens back off to srs, as i had it for the old price, parents bought me one from hong kong so i have 2.

How long befor the other retailers have there price hike as a google seacrh for the lens shows about the £200 pound mark

I think that Pentax lens sales will tank considerably with established users when all the new prices hit. I picked up one of the last 17-70's at the old price from Chris yesterday. We discussed the new prices and Chris agrees that although he's had a bonanza in Pentax lens sales recently, the situation is changing as the old prices dry up. It will be interesting to see how Hoya will react to the inevitable drop in sales (at least in the short term).

Difficult times ahead for Pentax I think.

At least Chris will have the K-7 and the new Olympus E-P1 to keep his sales up, it's quite noticeable that he is stocking a lot more Oly and Nikon these days.

I also heard yesterday (from another source) that Pentax underestimated the demand for K-m's and have run out of stock until September! I trust that Chris has bought enough supplies to last till then!

On another note, I was very surprised how much quieter the AF was on the new sealed kit lenses (at least on the K-7), they are very quiet, almost SDM level, a big improvement.
Best regards

This camera and TWO good lenses (inc FA 50 1.4) went for £216 yesterday on ebay I bid £170 thinking that was all the lenses were worth, now I realize £216 was still cheap.

I think they have made a massive mistake, probably to tie in with the release of the new K7 trying to make it look more desirable, against the canikons , However its going to alienate a lot of fellow pentax users

I'm sure a lot of the new users considering the K-7 will be very grateful that the price rises have been announced now and not after they had bought the camera..... wonder how many have been scared off?

If you really want a scare just look at Olympus lens prices or Canon L series and Nikon.
I'm afraid we are going back to the times when the best camera gear was the kit you just looked at in the shop window, and then made do with a box brownie.
Don't forget there are thousands of older lenses out there that will fit your Pentax, just feel sorry for all those Canon users, not really
