SRS new prices

2) Pentax have been told by Hoya in no uncertain terms that they better get the business profitable sharpish or else it's curtains, and having failed to attract the requisite customer base with a cheapo pricing strategy . . .
In my view
People should try to decide for themselves whether it is informed or not, cognitive dissonance notwithstanding.[/quote]Sorry, but it wasn't clear to me whether you were quoting facts from another source, which is why I posed my original question, or propagating rumour. I think I'm clear now, thanks for clarifying.
£450 is frankly a stupid price for a 50mm f1.4, especially when you haven't got a f1.7 or 1.8 to sell instead. It's normally the cheapest lens in the range and usually the first one any new user goes for.
I think most of it is currency related. Last year £1 got you 245Yen now it's about 145Yen. That's a big hit. I think the Yen is artificially high at the moment as most other currencies are slowly creeping back towards where they were a year ago. I think the Yen will have to come down with a bump soon. Not that it helps us, and ,historically, when prices go up they usually stay up! Especially if stock has been bought at the higher prices.
Last week the Pound hit 162, but has fallen back to around 158 today. So yes we are down some 36& on the July 2007 peak , but more realistically down 25% on average values.

i wanna know what price my sigma 150-500mmis gonna be,
Pentax don't do many "big" lenses do they? Maybe it would be an idea to check to be on the safe side.
Stefan K'berg also have it for a similar price, €719. They have the 60-250 for €1089. CameraNu is slightly cheaper on that one.
Sigma did went up the beginning of this year Pentax also slightly but not much.
Let's hope they wouldn't level the price with the UK, we are on the good side now for once.
The K-7 is also cheaper here from the prices that are known.
Maybe if England except the euro that your prices will be the same as the rest of the EU
I was, trying, to save for either the DA*300mm or the DA*60-250mm
Oh my!

I remember a while ago, you lot over there were moaning about the high prices you were being charged and we were much cheaper, as for the Euro?
I rather think the politicians will vote to keep the UK£.
How do you think the men in the “City” who speculate on currency could make a living (Killing), now if every one in the world had a common currency they would be out of business.
Well Stefan, It is not often that you get items cheaper over the channel

And one coin for the world... I don't trust the Americans and China too much, they would have too much power and you see how it is now with the dollar. China is at the moment a bomb to explode, over a couple of years they might be in trouble if they don't change.
