And when you have maybe you can name an innovation in the k7
True most of what the K-7 has is available on other cameras from the D300 up. What the K-7 does is put them all together in one small, tough lightweight body.

I'm frustrated by these price rises too. I was considering saving up for some nice lenses, wide primes or the 12-24mm maybe. But they're gonna be too expensive for me to ever justify buying them as a 'humble amateur'. So thank god for the backwards lens compatibility you dismiss in the third part of your rant!

Hey the K-7 isn't even out you so all you do now is branding it expensive on the advice price Pentax gives and not for the money it will lay in the shop!

Really wait till the thing is out instead of speculating we already have done that enough the last two months so just sit back for some weeks till you can try the final product in the shop.

so and that's my point made

ps. what kind of innovation other brands put in their new cameras?

Let's start with the Canon 500D.... hmmm video???
Nikon D5000.... hey also video, anything else...?
now a big one the Canon 50D.... more pixels *claps*
Canon 5D markII.... video

Really what kind of innovation were you thinking at?
K-7
AF system that adapts to lighting condition
Sensor shift
Cold resistant body, don't think the others have that.
Weather sealed kit lenses
more...?

Stefan, no shop is going to discount it by much, if at all from the Pentax retail price to begin with, they have no need. I am happy to put money on the fact the body only price will be over £1100 in the UK upon release.

Yes but you ain't sure Mike.
It's all in the deal the shop can make with the supplier, if they can get it for a better price so that they can sell it by quite a margin under the advice price I don't see why they shouldn't do it.

Good they might make more profit per body but if they can sell more the overall profit might be better and althose people will also want a new lens over 2 months as well so if you supplied the K-7 cheap with good service they will probable come back to you.

I don't have a shop so can be wrong though

Btw, body only price I've seen here is €1049 (£900)

I'm sure enough to put money on it Stefan and I don't do that unless I'm guaranteed to make a profit

The only thing that could push the price up a little is VAT back to 17%..

Too bad you said "£1100 in the UK" or else I would have taken the offer

I said I was careful Stefan, not stupid

If they are £900 in Europe I may even fly over to Spain and buy one, the savings will pay for a few weeks over there.

Ah well, Park cameras have now put their 50-135mm price up so that sorts out that problem.

Price didn't went up here so maybe also not in Spain.
Here it is €709 (£609) not as cheap as it was in the UK but surely cheaper now after the price raise.

I really shouldn't buy a thing in the UK anymore if I was you.
