I never understand that line of thinking either. Peeps are very diverse in their needs ways of working. the more choice the better I say.I was just wondering why more choice is a bad thing.
I never feel forced to use a feature I have no need for.

I have no problem if people don't want/need to upgrade, I am spending my money .. not theirs.
Mike, just to make it clear to you and any other forum members following this thread, I was joshing and meant nothing unkind in what I wrote. In an effort to avoid any confusion I need to point out that there are relatively few occasions when the rational part of my enfeebled brain has the casting vote: especially when decisions regarding the purchase of new 'kit' is concerned. Finally, I agree absolutely: what you or any other forum member chooses to spend their hard-earned cash on is not a matter for me or anyone else to pass comment on, unless it is done with good spirit and tongue pushed firmly 'in cheek'.
The bottom-line here, is that it is not just my photographic skills that need improvement
Any member offer intensive training in PR or know where I might get some:

Currys have a clearance shop on ebay (here) and a few months ago, one friday afternoon, they put a load of cameras and lenses up at Very Very Silly (tm) Prices. Sadly they got snapped-up within minutes and they haven't repeated the mistake since.

Thanks for the clarification (and the PM) .. my reply was meant in exactly the same way as yours so don't worry, I didn't take it personally. Perhaps I should have also added a after the sentence.

It still fills me with a warm glow every time I look on that Ebay sellers listing.

Actually Jacobs are taking preorders for the K-5 body only at £999 which is less than I paid for my K-7 when it first came out.

Besides, at least Pentax haven't done anything really stupid to kill a significant portion of their potential customer base (take a bow, Canon 60D and Sony semi-transparent mirrors )

They've never failed to pricematch a (non-grey market) UK store if I've asked - worth a try perhaps.

I doubt very much I will buy a K-5 myself
Now if only I could get one for what I paid for the K-7
