Pentax K-5 Autofocus System

CES 2011:

there was some future ways for photographers:
- to connect lens via wireless method
- some new hybrid tablet/notebook with Wacom touch/pen technology for editing pics etc.
(maybe, HDMI input of tablet/notebook will be, too

We can look forward to this things ...

OK, I wanted to take photos and I didn't want to wait,
so I bought 7" LCD for better focus:

I tried Z-Finder too (versy nice),
but I voted 7" LCD because it is more universal solution ...

Next modul Pentax camera would have a finder and only one bigger external monitor with profi bracket ... )

This looks like a useful device. I see they are available in the UK for £406, rather more than the US price of $399 though I suppose by the time you add carriage and duty there would not be much difference. Let us know how you get on wth it.

That looks really good. I hope Pentax do bring out a model with a flip out 'touch screen' some day... i would be really useful, especially for video. (If you could select your focus points by touching the screen while shooting video or using LV, like Panasonic does, it would be wonderful!)

My bad eyes have a problem with 3" LCD and with a good focus
and they have a problem with built-in finder, too, when I want to take some detail.It isn!t similar size of finder of old good Pentax 645N.


It is better with 7" LCD,
I know that 10" LCD would be more better ...

hows that work with video?

I use it for macro and portraits ...

I tried to make video
and I know that I need more baterry for K-5,
I think that isn´t prepare for good job with video ...

Normal small camcoder doesn´t want too mach energy,
Pentax K-7/K-5 project added video because Nikon, Olympus and Canon have video solution too ...
.. but continued focus didn!t add ...

It is OK for macro and and portraits,
maybe for video, too

a very fixed on the one hand with witch I am focussing ...

I'll agree the screen is useless in bright sunlight, making acquiring focus a real nightmare.

My problem are my eyes with 3,5 and 5,5 dioptries
- 3" LCD and finder of K-5 are getting a small picture for me ...

When I have my glasses, I know that isn´t a good picture, too ...

when each user can add some feature ...

I've been thinking about rigging up something where I can quickly switch a lens between two ( or more ) preset focal distances.

I've been getting into 'Drive By Shooting' by putting the camera on an in car mount and shooting with a remote button. It's difficult in most lights to get enough DOF to cover all likely subjects as I need a fast shutter speed while driving to avoid motion blur, os in order to keep apertures reasonably small and ISOs less than 2048000000, it would be good to tweak focus.

My plan was to rig something up like a collar with a stick clamped the focus barrel on the lens and then have tow end stops ( screw threa adjsutable )

This means I could twist the lens without looking at it while driving and would be no less safe than changing gear.

Those gear collars on the site look like they could be modified ...

Unless someone knows of a device purpose built for my needs?

Some Kiron Zooms have a Zoomlock and stops to limit the focus
between two points.
