Oh Dear! Even at 1280x1024 photos that used to display 800w are being
scaled down to 594 wide. At 1024x768 they and the text goes under whatever's
on the right. (Firefox 33.0.2)

Simon seems to have wasted his time posting the Siverstone pics

Same with m42geo's, although they are 2048 wide originally.

That interesting Algi. I've just had a look at that thread and it's displaying correctly on my system, a 1680 x 1050 monitor and using Chrome as the browser.

I think David mentioned that 1200 was the average viewer size for this site.

I've just looked at the US_site_link and at 1024 wide (on my monitor)
they still don't reduce 1200 wide jpegs (I can use a scroll bar).

Also note they have used black for the body text and white background
for text and photos. Never heard anyone complain

So this new design is a big step backwards

Work laptop 1440x 900 display. IE9

All images resized to 594 wide on this thread https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/topic/new-to-k-3--low-light-test-51702

And as Algi states, on the link he provided to a thread on the US forum, there are pictures 1024 wide and 1205 wide.

So, this update seems to have reduced the quality of photos displayed

EDIT: To add, I usually link to flickr shots which are 800 wide. These have all been resized to 594 wide https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/topic/some-more-red-squirrels-50629
As have ones which I have loaded directly to the site https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/topic/5-in-a-row---blythman-51483

If I right click in Fitefox and choose 'Image Fit' on a tall image it doesn't take into account the banner at the top of the screen and the top part of the image is hidden.

I think this has come up before for the Gallery, that is getting 16 images in a 5x3 plus 1 format.

I've just had a look at "My Portfolio" and the Photo gallery is 20 images in 5x4 format until I click View More, when it goes to 5x3 plus 1 and no way to reset it.

Anyone else?

I'll get used to almost anything except the grey text. Please consider changing it to black.

I like it and find it more fun to play on/with the site - Thanks for "spiffing" it up. - many of the american sites can be jumbled and convoluted. - Tony G.

"Some of the people some of the time..."
I can't tolerate DPreview for more than a minute owing the the black background and bright text which messes with my vision.
Everyone is different and I've witnessed lot's of complaints at every forum I've used that changes their theme design after years of using the previous one. Human nature I suppose.
One thing though, to those people who complain about too much white showing on their 23"/24"/27" monitors, why on earth are you using your browser at full screen? All that real estate and you fill it with a web browser!? lol...

Anyhow, I like the change, it's modern and clean. PU needed it - I think it's nicely done.

Why have I got all this blank space on the right side of my screen? Is this in response to the demands of sponsors? Perhaps the adverts could be strung out along the bottom of the page.
As for me, all I know is that I know nothing.

Too much scrolling due to too large vertical spacing.

Too little contrast (a lot of us are getting old!).

Hope that helps. (ah that's better. Slightly!)

Hooray - there are changes - our posts now appear on a grey background - the clever folk can no doubt describe it more accurately BUT it's a HUGE improvement

Many, many , many thanks

Yes I agree - an improvement - thank you! For myself, still too much scrolling needed - the gaps between lines and posts etc too big
