Thank you Ken, Nigel and Simon and TT for the kind comments. I did lift the shadows in the black and white conversion and it looks much better. I haven't got round to doing the colour version but once my eyesight is sorted I'll be looking at these again.

Stan

Foreground interest, interesting sky, lead in's, reflections, what's not to like?

I agree with the others about No3 but it's still a lovely image, you shouldn't bin it!
No4 is a calming relaxing image with beautiful clarity, my favourite so far

Just found this thread as I've been in a place with no internet for the past three days.
No. 1 seems a little too dark to me, maybe a colour version would be better?
No. 2 although I find the 'milky water' effect a little over used these days, this is a good example, but what I like most here are the moss covered rocks highlighted by the sun

Michael

A lovely balanced image. I'd echo the previous comment about lifting the shadows a little if you can, but otherwise - as Barrie said "What's not to like".

This is a really lovely landscape. Classic view of a tranquil lake with distant mountains, Snowdon I believe, and the icing on the cake; the little clump of reeds adding foreground interest.

The latest image is undoubtedly the best so far for me. It is just a gorgeous feast for the eyes. Yes, the shadows could be lifted and this would improve the shot a little, but all the ingredients are there.

From my home town. This final image won me the Thewlis Cup for best over all image in the St Bartholomews Fayre. The printed version is a bit "stronger" I think, more detail at left on the breakwater and rocks.

That ends my 5 in a Row. I will hand over to Nigel now and look forward to viewing his images. Again thanks for taking the time to look and for the useful critique.

The best saved until last. Great colour and sharpness - and I love the big, dramatic sky. I might have been tempted to try tilting the image clockwise by a tiny, tiny margin, for curiosity's sake, but overall this is simply several shades of lovely.

A fine set, Stan, although the last one looks a little too contrasty and even over-sharpened, at least on my lap-top.
The first two remain my favourites.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Thanks for the nice comment Simon, I'll look at your suggestion once my double vision is sorted. At the moment any image is a PITA to manipulate.

Thank you for the comment Andrew. Luckily for me it printed out better than it looks on here.

Very nice and balanced set. I like the sky on the last one.

Love the sky! Also the texture on the water in the foreground.

It might be my monitor, but if not, then I'd be tempted just to lift the shadows in the rocks on the left just a little.
I'm also with Simon that a tiny tilt clockwise might add to it.
