Boots Slide Film- Do they still process it?

New member here so apologies for lack of etique. The Boots lab is still indeed at Warwick I emailed the Fuji lab and got a curt reply saying that all Boots slide film is to be sent to the Warwick address. I hope this helps.

A Fuji film I sent to warwick in error 2/6/10 - with the right postage - seems to be lost forever. Leeds seem ok with turnaround but don't number the slides sadly. Thanks for the Kodakchrome tip - out with the Retina II to use those up while it's sunny. I still like slides - but once I can afford a good digital projector will probably change my mind now that Kodachrome is gone.

Well, that appears to be three rolls of film sent off to the Warwick address never to be seen again (my Dad sent one off too, nothing back over a month on).
I'm beginning to lose interest in slide film if I can't rely on Boots to process and return it. At £7 a pop they have a duty to their customers!
Where should I be sending my next roll to, given that the address printed on the envelopes is clearly incorrect?

Matt - if your paying for processing, try The Darkroom UK in Cheltenham. £7.25 a roll processed and mounted (no numbering though) and free post. 24 hr turn arround promised and delivered in my experience.
Boots is OK for film processing - 1hr/3day/7day - which ever you choose but no good for slide. Jessops even deny (so I heard on Saturday) that it can be processed in the UK - 14 day round trip to Gremany

Yes, but the Boots slide film is process paid - you get the little envelope in the box to send it in. I shouldn't have to pay again to get it processed!

Right, an update (after some chasing around):
The address is still correct, the problem is jobsworths at the Post Office. If you simply put a 1st class stamp on (as you always used to) then despite the item being under the weight limit and able to fit through a letterbox it will be summarily rejected and lost to the depths of the postal system (I can't bring myself to call it a service!) because it's more than 5mm thick. You need to use 1st class packet post instead - £1.30 to send a roll today!
I shall wait to see whether this one reappears before using any more.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

If the postage is wrong the item is usually returned to sender (if a sender's address is visible!) after around six weeks in my experience.
May be different in different regions I suppose?

Just had a look back at ths thread I started and can add that (as Dangermouse said on 06/10) a suprising £1.30 postage is required to send slide films.
I took my film to the local post office and got it appropriately stamped before sending to the Warwick lab, hence the processed/mounted slides came back in 9 days.
I shall dig out the MZ6 again as it seems there is not a problem with the processing (I had put it away when some of the earlier contributors seemed to suggest films might be lost).

It's faster to send to Fujichrome to Leeds (while there is any Fujichrome.) What is the best bet for film and processing post Fujichrome ?

I hadn't heard anything about Fujichrome ending production?

I don't know why, but I get the impression that the Boots film is rebranded Fuji?
Remember that Kodachrome required specialist developing, which more conventional slide films don't. I'll bet this played a large part in causing it to be discontinued. I know Ilford recently issued a press release along the lines of "We're now one of very few B&W film manufacturers and are doing pretty well as a result".
There may be a decline in choice, but film will still be available while there are functioning cameras to use it in.
Although that said I should probably pop into Boots and snap up another 3 for 2 on slide film, just to give their sales an upward nudge!

For info, for those people using "Boots Colour Slide Film", just received this from Boots regarding the slide film when I queried the non-operation email address and phone number on the film processing packet:

I'm sorry to learn that the phone number and email address you have are incorrect and it appears you may have an old envelope and I do apologise for this. I can confirm you will need to send your films to the below address:

Yep, that sounds about right (all the envelopes I have quote a Warwick PO Box).
I really don't see them discontinuing it. I don't know any other high street retailers who still sell slide film and I doubt it's a huge cost to them to keep in stock.

There wasn't anything particularly exciting on there, but I would like to know that I'll get my next roll back after posting it...
