It's BRAKSPEAR, not Brakespear. No E between the K and the S. Get it right gentlemaen get it right!
WH Brakspear founded the brewery in Henley in 1711. The family is very distantly related to the pope of the same name.

It is funny that CAMRA largely campaigns for "real beer" rather than "real ale". Originally "ale" did not include hops whereas beer did. That rather nice [in the original meaning of the word 'nice'] distinction has gone the way of all things. Also, I guess, CAMRB doesn't trip off the tongue quite so easily.

And Brakspear beers are actually brewed by Wychwood - creator of the famous Dogs Bllx and Wychwood are owned by Marstons!

Indeed, shame on you! and you guys are not bad at making the stuff by all accounts, last time I was in Victoria some of the micro-brew beers were very good.

I read that next week a Scottish beer called "Tactical Nuclear Penguin" goes on sale here in Sweden. At 540kr (ca £47) for a 33cl bottle I will not be sampling it, despite it being the worlds strongest beer. At 32% you Scots have a strange definition of beer. I'd call it rocket fuel.

At that strength it's not really beer in the sense of the experience of drinking it though. It's going to be more like a black whisky.

That isn't beer, it is a beer flavoured spirit! It'll be taxed as a spirit too. Beers with alcohol levels in double figures are just getting a bit too strong for my taste.
