What's the point? I mean its not like they are interchangeable?
Why not have dedicated forums for each brand? The very term "cankion" seems derogatory or is that just me?
I thought is was a wind up? What's the date? Close but not 1st April.

I received the email and it went straight in to the deleted items folder. I don't own a Nikon SLR or a Canon SLR. However, there is a pocket sized P&S version of one of them in the house

I received the email, but deleted it before I'd read anything. I just glanced at it, and thought it was announcing a new sub-forum on PF.
It does seem like a counterintuitive move to me. It should be two seperate new forums, or one mega forum (which would absorb PF).
We've chatted about this before in some other thread, but I also think Canikon is a bit derogatory. There's no reason to combine the two names unless you're trying to imply that users of the two main systems are sheep, or something along those lines.

I got it, which is quite amusing as I registered for the other forum ages ago and haven't been back. Seems a bit heavy on the "rich American Republican with no sense of humour" to me!
Surely putting both of those user groups together is a bit like opening the hatch between the sharks and the killer whales? If you're going to make a brand-specific forum then I don't see how you can lump two major brands together like that, it'll either be chaos or a spectacular row.
