I use that sketch as the basis for my opening lecture in the "Introduction to Roman Archaeology" course... Sadly one Roman author --- I forget which --- described beer as "asses p.ss".

My Dad, (Who was Cornish) told me the same thing about rats in the Cider, When i asked Gillian Bulmer (Whose family used to own Bulmers Cider) about it she told me that it was an important part of the process to include protein! So Rats or not i still love Black Dragon Welsh Cider! link

For those of the cider persuasion,this is worth checking out. Wychwoods rarely do a duff brew and their first attempt at a cider is no exception.
