I always have music on when doing post processing work on the computer.
And now I've become curious if you also have music on and if so what kind of music?

For me it's mostly Jazz, Folk, Blues, Dutch pop and Rock.
Some of the artist are, Audioslave, Anna Nalick, Ray LaMontagne, The Seatbelts, Sigur Rós, (now some you might know) Bread, Paul McCartney (Wings), Moby, Muse and some others but I don't listen them so much.

Now let me know what you listen to.

At the moment, and thanks to another thread on here, I am listening to a band called Abney Park, but it depends on mood, sometimes classical, sometimes folk.
Getting there! Thanks to you guys

Deppends what mood I'm in and how hard I need to concentrate, but yes I often have music on while working or playing on the computer

Mainly Deep Purple, Thunder, Counting Crows, Audioslave, Steeleye Span, Cat Stevens, Blackmores Night. The list is pretty varied but as I said my musical taste varies wildly depending on my mood.

If I need to concentrate hard it's either nothing at all or instrumental classical (generally I enter Mozart into Last.FM and let it play).

Abney Park, first time I heard of the band Father Ted so needed to look it up and I must confess it sounds very good, I like it.
Thank you for sharing.

Mongoose, glad to see you've Audioslave in your list, that makes my day basicly, counting crows is one I like
It also depends on my mood what I listen to and when you really need to concentrate words doesn't work that well and I also only listen to instrumental. Most of the time I putt on one of Yoko Kanno compositions, they are quite a bit more modern then Mozart, this one for example link
The style of music various per track so it keeps things interesting, at least for me.

Thanks Anvh, that link doesn't seem to quite work but I searched the name on YouTube, very interesting! Not my usual style, but very good.

A friend of mine introduced me to Audioslave a few years ago, I only have one album of theirs but it often finds itself in my playlist. I should get more really!

the list in my above post is far from exhaustive, just a few of my favourites.

Yeah not all of her songs are good but at least it's something different then the ones you hear here a lot.

As for Audioslave, the band doesn't exist any more so you only miss 2 more of their cd's although their first one is the best though. Really love the guitar solos Tom Morello produce.

All classics!

Matt, the only one I know is coldplay, very good music also but never heard about the rest. Time to look them up

Zero 7 sounds very like Toby Lightman a bit different though, Toby is a bit more soul where Zero 7 is Jazz but their voices sound the same.
Imogen Heap also sound good and interestingly I know some of your in the list when I've heard a song of them. My Mother is was a dance teacher so there was almost always music on in the house so I know a lot of the older songs.

Depends on the mood, if I really want to concentrate I will listen to Pink Floyd, Genesis, Elbow, Jan Garbarek, Steve Hackett otherwise I will usually listen to a more varied selection; Rush, ACDC, Matallica, Marillion, Snow Patrol, Supertramp,Courtney Pine, Folk, Baroque.

Spotify is helpful

Zero 7 have guest singers - so their sound is always slightly different. But very "chilled"... and I love the Rhodes/EP playing. Hmmmm

Will check out some of your list too

No, not for me, I find that "Silence is Golden"

There is far too much "background" noise in the world, music shouldn't be reduced to that level, it should be enjoyed with your full attention at it's original volume levels, preferably live, but at the very least, well reproduced by quality gear, you wouldn't accept anything less with your photography, would you?

The only activity that could possibly be considered symbiotic with listening to music is enjoying a drink!

Having background "musick" is a horrible modern disease.

Rant over!
Best regards

This thread is great! Tanita Tikaram, now there's a blast from the past. Just pulled down Ancient Heart. Got several discographies coming through. It's surprising how much music we forget about.
