Guinness is a bit like Marmite in as much as you either like it or you don't. It also varies a great deal in taste depending on where you buy it and how it is served. A pint served in a pub in Ireland will be totally different from a tin in England (in fact I believe the Irish recipe is illegal in England).

It also suffers more from being incorrectly stored or served.

Give it a try - you might like it.

At this point I must thank the moderators for their patience with this thread.

Somebody has to check it and make sure there's no wrong doings af any sort.

Once again, thanks.

what about ice cream for the adults or do they eat / drink something else?

Well, it's very much the children's day, with school brassbands leading long processions, people dressing up in national costumes, etc.

But yes, suppose we will have some ice cream ourselves, weather permitting.
Best regards

In a rare defence of our Atlantic cousins - I have to say I had a few decent pints of Guinness draught on Yonge Street in Toronto back in `94 - when I asked about it they said it came as a concentrate into Canada and was pre or post mixed at the dispenser.

Fine by me ......................

Actually, all Guiness served in England is now brewed in Ireland, and has been since they abandoned the Fort Knox-like Brewery in Park Royal in London.

Personally, I don't buy beer in cans. The aluminium imparts a taste that degrades the flavour of the beer (unless you are drinking Fosters, in which case any added taste is welcome).

Alistair - why not get some Pentax lenses with either tints or photochromatic properties - much easier to handle and harder to lose - lol

A few pubs here sell Guinness, but not many. I haven't tried it in a pub here. Only from a tin. It was evil.
No idea where the draft Guinness served here is brewed.
Heineken now own Murphy's so you see that in pubs too, but mostly Murphy's red not their stout.

Pentax USA has baseball caps. Don't think they sell them outside the US though.

I take it you've noticed we have passed the 100 page mark?

Are we aiming for 200 now and is this going to become a world record thread?

My understanding is that it is brewed to a different recipe for UK as something in the Irish recipe contravenes UK food regulations.

If all is well, drink and aluminium will never some into contact. The inside of the can should be lacquered to prevent this.

Your point about Fosters is well made though, however IIRC, this was not always the case. Can anyone remember probably 30+ years ago when Fosters came in a larger can, and was much stronger and more viscous?
