Thanks

Yes, it's about 33bhp but there's a maximum power-to-weight ratio too.

I just want a bike that's capable of motorway speeds. Far too hairy going around the bypass when the fastest I can get in many sections is 50mph!

I could buy a 400cc scooter but would feel to silly in full gear!

Ah Bernard the good old BSA 175 Bantam , I had two of those in me youth . and yes the old crossply tyres made them not good at cornering at speed .
Then I moved on to a 250 cc Star I loved that bike but it came to grief when someone did a u turn in front of me without brake lights or indicators or as it turned out insurance ..... jeff....

I came to grief when some joker I'd followed for about 2 miles through town pulled over to the kerb then opened his door as I went past.
I spent a few weeks recovering from a leg injury.

So now I prefer metal around me. At least someone doing the same trick will lose his door before I get injured

Now that I would love to see. Might even buy a ticket.

I've got a bike for one reason. I no longer want to spend two hours a day in traffic then have to park half a mile from wherever I'm working and pay for the privilege!

Well done Gareth, get that part 2 sorted and some lessons...

...you need to pass PDQ!

I can't understand the government's attitude to motorcycles. When the roads are full to standstill with tin boxes they should be encouraging the smaller, cheaper more feul efficient vehicles.

Not penalizing them!

Now to extract the cat from the computer cabinet...

If anyone wants to practice a rather interestingly worded theory test, have a look at this: link. It appears to have been translated into another language then back into English.

Evening all, some more dodgy weather tonight and the weekends not looking much better. I hope all members and their families are safe.

Thank you for asking
It was a little bit breezy here today but that didn't stop me cycling to the gym. On the way back I had to use a low gear and pedal to go downhill

We are off to somewhere near Gidea Park station tomorrow. Wondering if it will be worth taking a camera and a lens or two, thinking the WR kit lenses.

I saw the reports of the floods on the BBC news. I have friends in Devon who have been badly affected, yet again.

We had sunshine all day but will be getting your rain tomorrow. Not as much as you lot seem to have had, but still rain. Looking at the forecast I should get very wet walking the dog tomorrow morning.

Of course today I couldn't take advantage of the weather, and tomorrow I was hoping to go and actually take some photos for a change. I may yet go, the weather may add to the location I was considering, provided it is not absolutely chucking it down.

On Tuesday it was blazing sunshine and 15°C. Which was better than most of summer.

Seems to be the weather pattern in Scotland at the moment. Winters are cold, spring and autumn are warm and dry. Summers are wet.

All due to El Niņo. Or sunspots. Or GulfStream Jets. Or windfarms. Or polar bears. Or something.

No chance of any photography today. Chucking it down and really dark.
The place I was planning to go to is closed tomorrow, when it is supposed to be dry, and of course more rain is due on Sunday.

And almost failed that.

Spent part of yesterday 'playing' in mud
Had a trip to a Landrover Experience, had a go at driving a Discovery in a muddly quarry. Quite amazed that it would climb up a very steep bank, stop half way up, then pull away again and continue to the top. And that we could safely descend the same slope --without-- having to push the brake pedal through the floor (in fact without needing to use the brake at all).

Took camera - completely forgot to use it
