Some suitably wicked ones there

Is it really a week since I went to that party??

Must order a curry and open a beer (or two) to get over the shock
Cheers, HG

Very quiet here - is everyone drunk??

Barrie hasn't been around for a few days either. Is he on holiday or something?

Boy has Barry Bucknall got a lot to answer for.

#1 Son just taken on a new (actually a very old)house and I was asked if I would plane a bit of the bottoms of the doors to allow for new carpets. The old carpets were threadbare and no thicker than lino.

So doors removed and in the process I noticed (apart from the weight) they were clad in hardboard plus layers of about 50 coats of brittle, plane blunting paint.

He then decided to strip off the HB to discover that the original doors were two tone - dirty khaki green with dirty brown panels and covered in a mixture of panels pins which had pulled through the HB and holes were they had pulled out.

It has taken all weekend to do what was originally meant to be a half day job, the rest of the time playing with grandchildren.

Hey ho

When our new neighbours moved in next door they needed to renovate their house. They too had hardboard covered doors, (though no Barry Bucknall here)and all the door were full of holes from the panel pins. Some weren't salvagable..
When they stripped the HB off one door they found the panels were covered in original Beatles wallpaper.
Even more astounding was that they found an unopened roll of the same wall paper in the loft - put it on e-bay and got €300 for it .
