Thank you all for your kind Birthday wishes. It was great celebrating with our families the age range was from 8 days to 75 years. My new sisters also made it which was really heartwarming and eye leaking.
Enjoy life

I have no love and very little respect for politicians, but among all the hoo-ha and Andrew Mitchell bashing, has anyone wondered why the cops made him wheel his bike through the pedestrian gate?

After all, the Downing Street gates are promptly opened for any official coming or going on 4 wheels. Were the security police being over-officious in refusing to open the main gate for a man who is, after all, a senior member of the House of Commons and whose attendance was required in Downing Street.

Not getting into politics, never a good idea, but it is my understanding that cyclists and pedestrians go through a separate gate. The main vehicle gates are only opened for a car to pass through. Opening them for a bike could be seen as a potential security risk.

Of course as a youthette I used to just stroll down Downing Street, with only a copper at the door of number 10.

(Politics aside) it is my understanding that official cars are driven by the security services so they are perhaps only to allow those vehicles in?

Now if it had been a tandem ...!

On a more serious subject, where did all this rain come from?

Have you lost some TT?

And can we convert it to beer?

It's bad enough it raining water - beer would get us all sticky. Be good for the hair though I suppose.

I think I've got shingles . Got an appointment at the doc tomorrow at 8.30 to confirm or deny it.

I know many a pub that adds rainwater to the beer. Purely to improve the flavour!

Boris got it right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQemY1VUN4I

If you or I do it we get arrested for public order offences. Another rule for the mealy mouthed tory chief whip. I heard it suggested that the whole thing was a kind of week long trailer for the Thick Of It.

As a pretty experienced urban cyclist I would say hopping off your bike to walk through an exit is usually faster than waiting for gates to open! So he deserves the opprobrium for being lazy and losing his rag. Especially foul mouthing, effectively, employees who are there to protect him and his cronies. You say thanks to people who serve you not "do you know who I am?"!!!

(also the public minded Mitchell parked his modest car blocking a bus lane while he made his statement, will he be fined?)
Lurking is shirking.!
