I know it is fashionable to knock Auntie Beeb but personally I think it would be awful if she went. Radio 4 is priceless and Radio 7 is pretty good too. Having suffered US TV and radio... ugh. NPR does have some good programmes though, especially 'Wait, wait, don't tell me'.Thank goodness we live in a place where there's none of this cr@p... Just had a call from my favourite "undercover cop".
They finally got their Ni*on D90 whatever that is with an 80-400 ( ? ) lens for a "job" and when they checked everything - battery, card, lens, etc it just kept flashing F33........................
I Googled and eventually found a Q&A site that suggested opening the aperture wide on the lens and ................it worked.
She said she would have to kill me if she told me where she was !!
I said I`d kill her if she told you lot what I`d done !!!!!!!

I think it'd probably end up along these lines:Imagine if Clarkson was to make a Top Gear Programme about photography.
What camera would he slag off? Which would he rave about?
Clarkson waving the biggest Nikon he could lay hands on around and raving about how massive and expensive the lens is. Then complaining that in order to get the shot of the Stig jumping a snowmobile through a ring of fire he needs to be half a mile away as the lens is too long.
Hamster struggling with a similar Canon, they would naturally have to issue him with the largest tripod available so he'd need a box to stand on.
May quietly wandering around with a K-x and a handful of Limiteds, taking all the photos the other two missed.

The Tv Licence is required because a Tv (CRT) is a transmitter and it`s the IF (the signal to the tube)that the detector vans/hand held devices pick up...actually,it`s a field strength meter, much the same as the Super Snooper that detects radar speed traps..and that is how they know which channel you are watching. So,is there an IF transmitted from a flat screen?.No. the licence is for TV receiver equipment. The BBC - That venerable British institution, really does need to update and join the 21st century. Their continual block on advertising means we, the long suffering licence payers contiualy pay out for repeat after repeat. I hear that our monies go to fund programme development etc. Little said about the exhorbitant fees they pay their presenters... Will things ever change - I doubt it

Er not quite Nic.The Tv Licence is required because a Tv (CRT) is a transmitter and it`s the IF (the signal to the tube)that the detector vans/hand held devices pick up...actually,it`s a field strength meter, much the same as the Super Snooper that detects radar speed traps..and that is how they know which channel you are watching. So,is there an IF transmitted from a flat screen?.

The CRT is the display only and takes a video signal. There is no IF stage and no licence required.
A TV had a crt but now has plasma or LCD display, an audio amplifier and speaker(s) and a tv receiver/decoder which requires an RF (radio frequency) input and a licence.
The IF (intermediate frequengy) stage is part of the receiver, and this apparently bounced a signal back up the aerial and was what the detectors detected.

Think you`re right mayday,if Jensen Button was Jonathan Ross,he wouldn`t have a drive this year. But don`t forget,ITV want some of the revenue from the Tv licence.

The amount each household indirectly pays, through advertising, for ITV, Ch4, local commercial radio &c is well over £600 / per year.

When I visit my lady love in the US her brother has 300-400 channels on his TV and there is never anything on worth watching! On the rare occasions there is something on half worth watching, ads every 10 minutes are an unbelievable drag. We end up doing what we do here: reading, listening to music, talking to each other, playing board games, going for a walk, indulging in our hobbies, etc. If the BBC is showing a repeat, turn the TV off and do something else! The BBC - That venerable British institution, really does need to update and join the 21st century. "R" could also stand for Returned or Reject. What possible refurbishing could be done to an SD card? They have no moving parts and they either work or don't work!
I just buy the cheap 2GB cards from Aldi and have had no problems as yet. Since got hold of a couple of 4GB cards with the same brand from Tesco, again they seem fine.
