err... a Sony Trinitron from c.1996 is almost irreplaceable... the best displays ever made and the closest you can get at home to what I see in the gallery at work... I shall be very upset the day mine finally dies and has to be replaced by some cruddy inferior Plasma...

ah yes, Loewe... yes, a friend down the road has one... its been faulty more times than either of us can remember over the past decade, cost nearly twice what my Sony would have done - if I paid full-price for it (which I didn't), and still looks inferior (although still better than any LCD or Plasma!)

I think it's for a wide angle lens, but my screen isn't wide enough to see!

Dream on - while this works it stays and when it needs replacing there's a stack of other TVs in this house to take its place [ quick count shows another 4 TVs at least, here ]

I hate it when that happens. Loewe used to be head and shoulders above the rest. I would guess they have moved their manufacturing base to the Pacific rim or where ever.ah yes, Loewe... yes, a friend down the road has one... its been faulty more times than either of us can remember over the past decade, cost nearly twice what my Sony would have done - if I paid full-price for it (which I didn't), and still looks inferior (although still better than any LCD or Plasma!)
My sister in law asked me to recommend a washing machine a while back. I had had a Zanussi for fifteen years with no problems so I recommended one to her. She bought one and it broke down every month for the first three months then caught fire.
One thing though, avoid modern Sony like Hepatitis B.

A friend recently bought a Sony 37" TV and had no end of trouble mounting it on the wall.
The bracket in the manual that was for it didn't fit it at all!
A second Sony bracket had to have lumps cut off so the cables could be attached.
Good picture though, now it's on the wall.
My 32" Sony bought in the sales after Christmas last year is still going strong.

there's a decent deal on here at the moment on a panny 50"... but that's a bit big and it hasn't got VGA input.
Looking for a decent 37 with full HD, VGA, HDMI. We'll see if one turns up within budget at some point.

Well the Giro has been and gone. Not one decent photo, while my husband with the K-m got some brilliant ones.
I am truly sick, and more than a tad fed up with the K20D. I have so many poorly focussed, badly exposed photos with it, not only for things like this but also under far more controlled circumstances. Even using ev I still have trouble. Something I never (well hardly ever:wink had with the Ds.
If the K-x had a couple more features I think I'd swap the K20D in for one, but I need the wired remote for instance. At the moment I really feel like giving up all together to be honest.
It was fun to see the race though. A good turnout crowd wise, including one clown with his trumpet who kept playing That's Amore. . Not too much Pink to be seen though in spite of the vans coming through trying to flog T-shirts hats and bandanas. I guess we were all too tight to part with €10 .

Not getting a TV when I moved here in 2002 was the best decision I ever made.

It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head. Henri Cartier-Bresson
Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Just finished a roll of film in my little Olympus XA, might get it developed tonight, shame I won't be able to show the results as it's not a Pentax!
Hard luck on the Giro Gwyn, if you're not happy with the K20 do a swap with your hubby.
Tell him it's a step forward and he'll probably make better use of it, then in a few months time treat yourself to a K7!

the stand by button is not a Toggle switch .
I was getting really mad with the thing and decided to start to hit any button
First one worked. To prove it wasn't a freak I put it in Standby again and then pressed a different button -- YAY
