Amazing, I had to google 'Stoneybridge'

I think it tells you a lot about the opinions of the IOC in sticking an event 400 miles from London

I see that they are planning to put some serious artillary on top of flats to protect the games from rogue aircraft. It fires missiles at unimaginable speeds. Where do these things land if they miss the target?

Am I out of range in the Midlands? Is Glasgow out of range? If they fire to the south can they reach France and therefore would that be an international whoopsy?

On the way back from Whitby we noticed a pretty random motorway sign that told us to make sure we had our travel plans for the Olympics planned well in advance.

I think my plan will be to stay indoors until it's all over....
Best regards, John

Unfortunately we get back from France the Monday before the olympic thing kicks off!

If I'd known, or checked the dates, I'd have stayed in France as far away from the UK as possible.

On the news this morning, southern water companies have sold 25 reservoirs in the last 5 years.

No wonder there's a draught down there!
Cheers, HG

I was wondering if other cities/countries that have hosted the Olympics were subjected to so much hype in the run up to them.

I am sick of the BBC coverage of them already, and I don't even live in the UK.

I have heard that Mons Meg, the cannon at Edinburgh Castle, if loaded could hit Fife.

I often think it would be worth finding out if it's true!

I`m heading for my sister`s in Jersey for a fortnight - that should help ignore the hype and silliness - especially the stuff about how ALL this spending is for the good of the country as a (W)hole.Seems to me like the biggest adfest in the world for selected companies !

Sport ?? Yeah !! Either have it in one place all the time ( Much Wenlock no )or cap the spending for all.

Talking of the Titanic - yes a Chinese is apparently going to re-create it ! I saw this in the Telegraph on line today................

"A Canadian man exploring an isolated beach in British Columbia's Graham Island made a remarkable discovery.
Peter Mark came across a big white trailer containing an unmistakable but rusty Harley Davidson motorcycle with a Japanese licence plate." Washed ashore from Japan after the Tsunami !!
They are trying to trace the owner..................
