Sounds idyllic Gwyn - Jersey is lovely - food and scenery - I`ve only ever seen the "other" makes of camera there but I live in hope ( I did buy Gill an Espio for her 64th )
Emma is not overly happy as ALL police leave is cancelled for JULY AUGUST SEPTEMBER - and she may not even have a job at the end of it !!
I`m off to see the Oncology prof AND the Colostomy surgeon on a double date !! Glad the coffee is free...................that`s Private Medicine for you hee hee.

I remember some bbc chums going to the Seoul Olympics and were briefed about the necessity of not wearing white, the colour of mourning there
Then they were given their official bbc uniforms - which were white

I have heard that Mons Meg, the cannon at Edinburgh Castle, if loaded could hit Fife.
I often think it would be worth finding out if it's true!
Bet the cannon ball doesn't leave the gun at 2800mph. That's just over 7 minutes from London to EdinburghI have heard that Mons Meg, the cannon at Edinburgh Castle, if loaded could hit Fife.

Why who don't you like in Fife?

The range of the 20 inch diameter ball fired from Mons Meg was two miles so not a chance of hitting Fife. Anyway it is a Bombard designed for desroying castle walls at relatively close range. Probably the Exocet of its day though.

This isn't really pointless as it concerns alcohol, just a heads up for anyone with a Morrisons supermarket to hand, Snakebite Cider Apple Fruit Beer £1.25 a bottle. I'm sat here enjoying one at the moment, rather odd taste for a beer but very palatable

Is it a proper snakebite - half and half beer and cider? Or more like a Belgian fruit beer?

Stan, your answer lies in my opening line "This isn't really pointless as it concerns alcohol"
I confess Gwyn I've never drunk a "proper" Snakebite, always considered it a waste of either beer or cider so can't comment, however the label states "blend of traditional crafted beer infused with cider apples" so I would say it's more like Belgian fruit beer, which is so long since I had some I can't remember

Oops I meant properly alcoholic. Not like the "beer" they used to sell in the Faeroe Islands and other places, where there was a great possibility of drowning well before any small inkling of inebriation would occur. They sold similar stuff in Norway too, the amzing part was the headache the next day. Not a proper hangover just feeling your head was about to explode.

Jersey sounds nice Tony. I've never been and doubt I'll ever get there, so I hope you'll find the time and energy to take some piccies for us.
I think I'll be unplugging my TV at the start of June and leaving it unplugged until autumn.
The only person I know who is looking forward to the Olympics is my son, who is going with Dutch TV, but even he has mixed emotions about it, being away from his kids for three weeks in the summer holidays.
Just providing a photo for his ID was a major challenge - we submitted 4 before they accepted one - all met their requirements as far as we could see, but they weren't happy.
If I could I'd go to the Serengeti for the duration. No TV coverage, no newspapers, no radio even. Wonderful!
