Half term this week so went with the grandkids to the zoo.
Not a single usable photo. Not one. I don't expect a high hit rate on trips like that but not a single one .
My hit rate has been dropping like a stone, so even when I can be bothered to pick up the camera I have little to show for it.
Almost enough to make me pack it all in...
Sorry for that diversion in to photography.
Now back to pointlessness please.

Seriously though it is the time of year when good shots can be hard to get and the greyness seems to affect our mood and ability to get things done.
Cheer up the daffodils will be out soon.

I have just read that Marie Colvin and a French press photographer Remi Ochlik, (www.ochlik.com/) have been killed in Syria.
I always admired Marie Colvin and read many of her pieces, before we gave up on the Sunday Times.
Such a tragedy going on in Syria and such a waste.

Your van is a lot nicer than most of the B&Bs I've stayed in!

Our usual price in the van on a campsite is £10-15 per night including electric and quite often showers. That means we can afford a b&b every now and again If I was returning to east anglia for a visit I'd time it for the cheap caravan holidays in the Sun. Lots of info on block and tackle even mentions the loss due to friction of the sheeves 1/10 IIRC
Exactly what I've got (2 pulleys at thetop, 1 pulley & hook at the bottom) snag is the middle 3 ropes (lines, whatever) keep twisting around each other as I raise/lower the hookTry this site you may find help ?

Perhaps you need special rope. Are you using natural or polyprop?

Blue Polyprop
I had the same problem with a hemp cord that I started with (rope dia is 1/4"by the way).
When the hook is down and loaded it's not to bad, just a bit of spin as the load twists (puts about 10 turns on the load, but the rope slides past itself)
With no load it just spins up and I can't lower an empty hook, followed by complete jam up if I persist.
I've unthreaded the rope from the pulleys, stretched it out down the garden, getting rid of any surplus twist. On re-threading through the pulleys it works once or twice then..............
