Another pointless thread

It would be a sad day when one did. Nothing to do!

I'm waiting for a man to call about fixing my windscreen. His nibs borrowed the Kangoo on Saturday to get some stuff from the DIY shop. Put it all in the Kangoo, closed the tailgate on it, and found out it was too long - result one burst windscreen, from the inside out.
It is a special sort of glass too, so whether they can replace it with the same type I have no idea.

It is insured but I have to pay half the excess on it. Hopefully this is the end of expensive repairs for a while. €1000 spent in a month with very little to show for it .

But you'd only have spent it on a camera otherwise!

It's good to know that the Dutchess of Cornwall has lots of buds.

Is he speaking in a high pitched voice now

That's what I love about DIY store car parks. Watching the customers trying to fit their purchases into the car. It's almost as much fun as standing on a cliff top in a gale watching the "Sunday Sailors" having all sorts of problems

No. But it was a close call.

He bought a sheet of plasterboard and it was just a cm or two too long but of course it was enough. He could have trimmed it beforehand as we don't need the full length of the plasterboard, but never mind. He hasn't done the wall which needs the board either so it is just lying here in the way .

They can't do the windscreen until Wednesday as they don't have one in stock.

A man goes into a bar and drinks beer. After every glass of beer he pulls a picture out of his pocket and looks at it. After the 4th beer the waiter asks him why after every glass of beer he pulls the picture out and looks at it.
Then the man says: It's a picture of my wife. When she looks good to me I'm going home.
That is the power of beer, for an example, see below:

I drove a ford cortina from Norwich to Lowestoft (about 35mls) with 3 x 4ft x 8ft thin plywood sheets ( sliding wardrobe doors )on a roof rack and calculated take-off velocity was 29 mph The doors looked great once installed

I'm waiting for a quote for a new windscreen too.

The last owner evidently had it replaced, but the monkey responsible damaged the paint where the sealing goop sticks the screen to the body. This is now bubbling visibly and needs to be resprayed, but doing so will need the windscreen to be removed. Can't do it on insurance either as it isn't actually cracked, but probably won't come out intact. So the old screen needs to come out, then the paint damage needs to be repaired, then a new screen needs to go in.

Can't you find a nice gritty road to drive over to encourage a crack?

Or carry a piece of plasterboard in the vehicle .

Either that or hit it with a hammer .

Well it does have a couple of small chips...

Only snag is that due to the need for a delay between removal and replacement the insurance would definitely smell a rat and refuse to pay for it!

At least this time it'll be done right. The bodywork chap I'll be taking it to would probably throttle the windscreen fitter if he damages the new paintwork!

There is also a Japanese-spec spoiler in undercoat waiting to go on. I've done the basic stuff but it needs professional attention to apply the top coat and fit it. Given he'll be mixing a batch of paint anyway this is probably my best bet for having it match properly. Should give fair warning to anyone who mistakes it for a boring estate...
