All ready on the second bottle of Holden's Burton Runner (bought from Booths at £1 a bottle!) and wondering whether to open a bottle of wine to go with the spag bol.

For those of a photographic bent, sorry I'll re-phrase that, for those interested here's a link to the Leica results CLICKY!!

This is the third attempt at the spelling, must get a checker re-installed.
Cheers, HG

I am sitting outside, enjoying a glass of Spanish plonk.
It is 25C - warmer than it has been all summer, or so it feels anyway.

Thunderstorms and rain tomorrow and back to cold and wet next week.

The older plastic ties are much better
Could you not just open all four and pour them into a big glass!

Up in Oban for the weekend. Weather pretty good. Nice to get away.

I never thought of that a bucket would do!!

This is a true story:

A local brewery (Greenalls) used to have a dray horse for shows that liked to drink bitter. There was a famous local champion beer guzzler who challenged the horse to a drinking competition in aid of charity, so they arranged it and just as they were about to start the beer drinking champ. called out.... HOLD ON!!! the horse is drinking out of a BUCKET!!! Lets have a FAIR COMPETITION!!! I want a BUCKET AS WELL!!!!

This kind of tie seems to be much more common now. It has a nice handle on it which makes carrying the pack of cans much easier (cans no longer drop out randomly when you pick the thing up) but I agree it's much harder to liberate one when you actually want to drink the thing.

You just have to remember that progress is a vector quantity.

I too was enjoying some Spanish plonk when my chair collapsed and I fell into the chiminea burning my arm quite badly.

That sounds quite painful Ken. It is surprising what can happen when one starts drinking out of damp glasses. Hope you are alright.

Sounds painful Ken. Hope you are OK.

We had a big thunderstorm in the night and today is cloudy and humid. I guess yesterday was summer .

Is the guide dog now in training btw? Any plans for another pup?

Hi Gwyn,

I think he's having a final assessment on Tuesday, there is a general feeling that he's too boisterous and strong and easily capable of pulling someone down a flight of stairs. I was at a Guide Dogs event the other day and realised that our 'puppy' was quite a bit bigger than any of the mature working dogs there.

They might think he can be some other kind of assistance dog or go to the police or army as a sniffer dog, we'll have to wait and see.

The last resort is he becomes a pet and would probably be offered to us but I'm not sure how I can manage the life work balance with a mature dog and a six week puppy! Knowing the very clever and sneaky people at Guide Dogs they'll take him away, give us another puppy and then offer him back.

It is funny having a large guide dog because people make the assumption that I'm visually impaired (without seeing my photographs). On a walk this morning I was offered assistance three times. I took him to Edinburgh on the train one day and was impressed that the Scotrail staff approached me and asked if I would like help at Waverley. I said 'no' but the disabled ramp appeared anyway. After six hours on the go, behaving impeccably, in and out of shops, a restaurant, a bar and some of the Festival Fringe madness, he disgraced himself by being sick on the train home and doing a pee of biblical proportions on the concourse at Glasgow Queen St. Bliss!

One of the great discoveries over the past year has been that Guide Dog owners seem to be the cheeriest people around.
