Another pointless thread

I've always found it interesting that the holy grail of computing is to pass the Turing test when the last thing we need is machines that sound and behave like the people who seem to populate IT support lines!

I had reply from gmail - see this website. It didn't help, so I have sent off another request. Doubt I will get anywhere though.

The problem is with my gmail account. I use my initials and surname with dots between the initials. According to gmail that is fine and it doesn't actually matter whether I use the dots or not as the system doesn't recognise them. Unless you sign in using an app. Someone has signed in on a mobile, using the same name, but without the dots. Seemingly the system accepted that because it was done via an app. However once people respond to them I receive the mail! My inbox is full of stuff from a dating site, online shopping and Photobucket.
My mail hasn't been hacked - only my isp has been used to view mail.

Photobucket did nothing so I have - I logged in with the other persons username, said I'd forgotten my password, and have changed it. I also made their album private, which was mean.

The dating site have taken them (me?) off their list.

I wait to see what else arrives, and whether Google work out how to overcome this stupid glitch in their system.

I hate laser printers and people who sell dodgy software

Rant over,
Good luck with the treatment Tony, and congrats to Gwen, a bit late I know but all sorts of computer issues going on.

Thanks Colin.

We are €500 lighter after last night's celebratory meal .

No experience of laser printers, though plenty of experience with dodgy software and people who flog it . Hope you get it sorted.
