Finally got (almost all) the tiles up in the bathroom. Seem to have been building the place for weeks (which is probably because I have!

Who knows, another week or so and it might be finished!

At least you have been able to do it yourself - I have to get guys in to do anything like that - and it comes at a price

Comet engineer in reversing my fridge freezer doors now

Once he's gone I'll be able to settle the silver beast , then cool it down and later today put everything back in and finally get it organised the way I want it

Fridges and freezers always seem to have the doors the wrong way round - managed to fix mine but took me ages - very fiddly!!

My husband used to do that sort of thing - much easier .

However as I paid Comet a huge tenner to install the new one [ the assistant in the shop told me it would be a £50+ job to reverse the doors ] on reading the website I discovered that as I'd paid for install the door job would be

FREE

35 mins later - job done

Possibly the best spent tenner for a long time

But every time you opened the fridge you'd get a face full of steam!

Fridge wouldn't worry me quite as much as the freezer part .

On some of the big American style fridge/freezers they actually
have to remove the doors and even the house doors to get them in?

We had to do that with ours. Wouldn't fit with the doors on.

That wasn't the tricky part - it was getting it even on Victorian house floors. Only the front adusted so had to use a wooden wedge at the back.

But (despite it being the worst fridge/freezer in the world (made by Whirlpool if anyone missed my previous rant) it is nice to have cool water and ice on tap.

Long time ago when I was young(ish) and fit(ish) I was fitting a kitchen and the customer was expecting a new American style F/F, the delivery guy was on his own and about 5' tall and thin as a rake, he probably weighed 8 stone wet he had to take the house door off, the F/F doors off and manage it up three steps, and I was way too busy to offer him a hand

New computer is finally up and running and has just about everything loaded on to it again. It was all fairly painless I'm pleased to say. I even did most of it myself .
The only thing I don't like about it is the noise it makes. It sounds like an old cold water tank in the loft refilling. Very off putting.

I also got a new desk and office chair from the deal so I am very happy. Now to sort out the rest of the room, but not today since summer has finally arrived - for one day only - thunderstorms due tomorrow and back to wet and cold after that .

Gwyn, most modern computers have an electronic fan speed control which makes the machine virtually noiseless. Look in the BIOS if there is such a setting. In my machine it is called QFan (for QuietFan).

In addition I bought a fanless graphic card (Nvidia GeForce) so the only noise heard from my machine is the whine from the harddisk spinning down at shutdown.
Best regards
Terry

If you can find which fan is noisy you might be able to replace it with one from somewhere like:
http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/home

If you look in the bios it should give the CPU fan speed.
If it's above 3,000 rpm it's probably noisy.
