My new computer is due to arrive today .
Keeping an eye out for Mr DHL. He'll probably come at dog walking time though.
Still not to worry, it won't get set up until the in-house geek returns from his jolly in Stavanger, so a day here or there doesn't make any difference.
Since we only got around to ordering it late on Friday evening, and it is a bit of a custom job, that is very impressive work by Dell.

Just had a text from said in-house geek. There he is in Stavangar, in a harbour front hotel, with tall ships in front of the door and he forgot to take his camera .

Gwyn, I think that DHL have been taken over by Yodel. Look for a green van instead of the yellow one!
Also, more than a few people in the UK seem to have had problems with their computer not arriving and when they checked the tracking number found that, apparently they called didn't find anyone in and left a card. Needless to say, the customer has been in all day and didn't see any van and did not receive any card. The computer is put out again by the courier and the customer does get it, but it means more hassle for the customer!
Make sure that if you have to sign for it you do so as not checked so that if it has had a bash or otherwise been damaged in transit, they can't say "you signed for it, why would if it was damaged? You must have damaged it!"
Good luck and enjoy it!

We still have DHL here. Yodel (ridiculous name :roll took over Parcelpoint (DHL) deliveries in the UK only.
I've never had a problem with DHL - if they say they will deliver on a day they do. But now I have to walk the pooch so you can almost guarantee he will arrive while I'm out. Tomorrow is even worse with several appointments during the day.
Sooner or later the computer will get here though.

Plus washing his car and he will also setting up a computer for me. That's the one he'll enjoy doing the most. Honestly.
The Landy has a tarpaulin under it to collect the drips -and there are a fair few already .

I spent most of today waiting for British Gas to turn up and service the boiler. They were booked to come between 10 and 12 (booking made three weeks ago). At about 11 I get a call "sorry, we're busy, we'll try to get to you by 3pm"...
I really do not care how busy you are. If you can't keep to the appointments that you made a month ago then you clearly do not have enough staff and need to spend some of your outrageous profits on employing more engineers!
I take it they won't mind if the next gas bill is paid late? After all, we're busy and will try to get the payment to them...
Naturally I heard plenty of jet activity while waiting. If I hear any tomorrow morning (and depending on what the weather does) I will be spending some time around the Claerwen at lunchtime with suitable foodstuffs and cameras, as I suspect it must be part of their standard training circuit.

I doubt he knows what he's on about either! I'm getting fed up with the wall to wall London Olympics cheerleading by the BBC already. They will bring no benefits to the rest of us and will soak up money which could be far better spent elsewhere.

I'm now stuck in the house waiting for my FridgeFreezer to arrive [ and be installed ]
Contents of freezer in a big insulated box with Icepacks and bottles of frozen water . I'd only stocked up with bargain meat a couple of days before the Fridge Hoover had arrived and there was still a stock of many weeks supply of good meat there . Box has been parked in the coolest spot in the house - under the stairs .
Don't have a time - somewhere between 8 and 6 is the delivery slot
Good job the weather has changed - or I'd be really frustrated - flat grey skies and wet ground don't really tempt me out

Delivery drivers often telephone about an hour before they arrive.
You have to leave the fridge/freezer a few hours to settle first.
It should be in the instruction manual. Maybe you can
download one while your waiting.
I hope you have years of trouble free use from it

I had left my camera at home as the light was horrible, SWMBO said "you should always have your camera with you". The light had improved when we found the heron and also a black swan.
I will be back in August so will take camera come rain, hail, sun etc.
