There's something wrong.

The sky is an odd blue colour. There is a bright light in the sky. I do not have to wear a fleece and a waterproof. I do have to wear .

Not that it's going to last but it's nice to be reminded what summer should be on about.

I'm just glad nobody is talking about beer (for once).

Sister-in-law's wedding yesterday. And the only thing they had to drink was Carling! Not good, and after eleventy or so pints and not getting home until 2am I have ever such a slight hangover!

You actually managed to drink enough Carling to get a hangover:

Yes he did, but his bladder has exploded!!

Tonight I think I'll have a Goliath, or a Rose, or even a large (pint!) G&T.

Some people can drink their beer..

...I prefer drinking somebody elses!

I'm not really a big fan of Marstons Pedigree (cans), but I noticed in some supermarkets that they have dropped the can size down to 440ml from 500mm and kept the price the same (£4.49 to £4.99)..... Hobgoblin seem to have done the same...... they should rename it to "Cheeky Devil" Equivalent to a 14% price rise

Health drinks such as "Innocent Smoothies" have done the same reduced from 1000ml down to 750ml and kept the same price £2.79. Equal to 33% increase in price. Tesco's were doing two for 4 quid which wasn't too bad, but when I got home I found they'd charged me the full £5.58 without any reduction

I'd go back with the reciept and get my money back Algi, if the offer is still valid!

Sainsburys have done that to my better half in the past, she always gets a refund.

Normal service has been resumed .

Back to cold and grey and wet again.

Sunday, at 13.3C, was the coldest day ever recorded here for the second half of July, and the third coldest July day ever.

I am getting a blinking Land Rover parked on my drive for a couple weeks from this afternoon. It had better not drip any oil on my new drive or I shall be even more pee'd off about the thing than I already am.

They are going camping regardless of the weather, but have decided to take my other son's Peugeot estate. They have come to the conclusion that the LR is not safe for the kids. The children's safety seats just don't fit properly.

Duh! I told them that before they bought the thing.
Now they have used up all their savings, and a good chunk of mine too on a vehicle they dare not use with the children.

Even with Land Rover running costs it would be cheaper to keep it, and sell the children.

Bolt in some government surplus webbing and use lots of industrial velcro. That should keep the kids in place (Floor, roof, side panels, infact anywhere that takes your fancy) - not terribly comfy but, hey, they're quite flexible at their ages

I'm guessing this is a problem with isofix child seats and LR seats not having the matching attachment points?

The photo that got away today...

Standing on the Claerwen dam I hear a faint noise, and look up to see a Hawk trainer coming straight for me at about 30 metres above the dam. I didn't have a chance to get the camera up before he roared overhead and carried on down the valley!

Had the exact same thing happen to me last year I was stopped on the track just near the top of the dam and was swapping SD cards when a Hawk flew past almost at eye level, over the dam and down the valley. Having sorted the camera out I was hopeful of seeing another, but never did

Those Hawks are fast little bu**ers!

Walking around Buttermere a couple of years back a Hawk screamed up the calley, over the lake and out over the pass.

I managed to get a good shot..

.. of the hills acros the lake!

I have an even worse post-script...

After waiting around for a few minutes to see if he was coming back (or if one of his mates was about, as I could hear a jet engine somewhere nearby) I gave up and started driving down the valley. What should come over but a Tornado with assorted things hanging from the wing hardpoints!

Is there a site which details when and where they'll be low flying? I know they publish generic "there will be low flying on this date in Mid Wales" but not whether it's more area specific.
